well, once again im setting my idea up to the firing squad. here in the US i am a senior in highschool, and one of the requirements for graduating is a culmaniting project. so i happened to find an interesting article about a computer -refrigerator that i spied on VH's case gallery. so, ive aquired the necessary tools and supplies. the idea is that i will attach a computer to the inside of a mini cube fridge. i plan to put a submersible pump to circulate super cooled antifreeze from a container in the freeze compartment to the processor, and possibly the videocard. now, im pretty poor, so i dont want to risk ruining anyhitng of value, so im using an old pentium 166 that is collecting dust. im making the cheapest thing possible mind you. no fancy waterblocks, just the classic (and cheap!) 2 pipe ends and 2 nipple plumbing job. hopefully this will work, just gotta make sure that i dont open it too much, defrosting a computer is NOT something i look forward to lol. that is simple enough, and im pretty sure that i can woo my computer illeterate teachers with some techno jargon, just as long as i include the word data, download, and internet. but then the real fun is going to start. ive been in contact with a person who is a very good case modder and happens to have his own store, so he has lots of disposable income and neet gadgetry. ill link to his site once i can find it again. well, he has this idea of imersing a computer in mineral oil (or some other liquid medium that doesnt conduct electricity). ive seen this done before sucessfully. but his twist is he is going to put in the freezeplate off of a refrigerated water fountain tank to chill it all. interesting idea. now, wait a minute i thought. im worried about condensation in my cube fridge. but if i imersed it all in mineral oil, it wouldt be a problem. ahahaaaaa that makes me happy. the only concern is if the mineral oil gets too cold it might get too thick to move around easily, making hot and cold spots. maybe a bilge pump to circulate it all. what do you guys think? sounds like an interesting endeavor to say the least. a good disaster mod anyone know if the mineral oil will be too thick once its gets cold or have any other suggestions on what i could use? btw, ive pretty much abandoned the acid idea lol. id rather my fingers be cut off with my trusty dremel that burned off slowly and painfully.
