has anypone tried changing the led's in these things, or anyone who's got one know if they could be changed. and boefore some smart alec comes allong and tells me to buy the colour i want..... i know i can get varous colours........ i'm wanting to replace them with bi colour LEDs Snood
welll buy them in bi-colour.... I knwo they're available... though perhaps not in the specific combo you want
I think he means using LEDs which can have two different colours rather than fans with 4 LEDs with different colours each. I don't think many people will have tried this because of all the colours and colour combinations available.
cool project. I have an idea for this for my project firehazard Let me know if you put ur idea to the test and how it comes out
looking at my antec led fans, id have to say that changing the leds would be more hassle than it's worth ... the led's are connected to power by some wierd circuit-board-ribbon dealie ... you would have to find the same wierd circuit-board-ribbon dealie with 3 rails instead of 2, and then work out what changed which anode was recieving power ... so are you wanting to show hdd activity in your fans? or something similar? or just wanting to change the color on the fly?
My akasa LED fans look like they're easy to change... and as a bonus they come with a speed controll preset resistor which is very handy (allows you to lower the fan speed without effecting the LED brightness) Rob. p.s. I've got an antec one in my vapo, but it's far too difficult to check out the LED's are placed right now
i wouldnt have to find a ribbon with three tracks as bi colour leds only have 2 mins....2 pins..... 2 tracks...... easy Snood
no mate bicolour leds have three pins common anode and two cathodes (might be the otherway around, I'm sure someone will correct me!)
You're wrong, that's tricolour Rob. p.s. Generally bicolour led's have two pins, current polarisation dictates colour. with most three pin LED's you can turn both element on at the same time to get a third colour so they're tricolour (though there are a few which produce too much heat and blow up whenyou do this, so they are indeed bicolour).
