The front panel audio jack on my Antec P193 is quite noisy - with a pair of earbuds plugged in and no audio playing, I can hear a faint but very audible electrical interference that sounds like squelching and buzzing. I've plugged in the case's HD audio connector into the correct header on my P6T SE mobo and HD audio is enabled in the BIOS. I don't get the same interference with the earbuds plugged into the mobo's green audio socket, though having said that, there is very slight but otherwise not very noticeable noise. Is this sort of interference just a fact of life with front panel connectors or is there anything I can do about it?
It's probably just your sound card, usually they boh have heavy static. If you want great non staticy sound, you need a dedicated sound card. Just make sure the sound card has a plug to attach the front panel sounds... mine (X-Fi) doesn't. You may want to look at ASUS Xonar.
I don't have a sound card, just the onboard HD audio that's part of the motherboard I've since seen quite a few posts similar to my OP as far as Antec P-series cases are concerned - Antec have been replacing the cabling and audio sockets under warranty so I might raise a support ticket and see what happens.
If it outputs any sound... it's a sound card... integrated or not... it's still a sound card. also hearing noise on my Antec P182, im thinking it's to do with the case rather than the sound chip.
