probably just an electrolyte imbalance. hwoever is a possibility its some form of either nerve damage, or maybe something such as a vertebral disc pressing on a nerve. get it checked out to be sure. a simple blood test by your GP will show if its down to electrolyte imbalances or not.

OK, before people scare the bejezus out of you: if it occurs on both sides of your body we can probably rule out specific nerve damage or vertebral disc slippage.

I think photosensitive epileptic seizures can be ruled out also, as they tend to present quite differently, incuding absences or temporary black-outs (there are some varieties where you retain consciousness but the symptoms are quite different).

I am inclined to agree with monkeyspank that your electrolytes are a bit out of whack and that salt is to blame. Alternatively now may be a time to quit drinking so much Red Bull. In short, if you drink lots of coffee or cola, cut down, and if you eat a lot of salt in your diet, cut down on that-- salt is often a big factor in these cases.

If your symptoms persist or get worse, always consult a doctor.

Right, so, I dont experience any pain, I dont drink any energy drinks, I dont eat alot of salt, I dont drink coffee, I dont play many video games, and I'm not constipated ;p

Electrolytes seems to be the best explanation.

i think it's perfectly normal to get these little random twitches tbh. happens now and then to me, but i only really notice it when it's my eyes.

had random twitches in my arms and thighs now and then, and the eye thing happens maybe once a week for no apparent reason. never really thought about it much, certainly never worried about it :)

Having read all the posts, and laughing to the point of having spasms myself, I just thought I'd throw this out there. Maybe your just a little twitchy. It's just who you are. If you aren't doing massive amounts of salt/drugs/heavy metals and it's not interfering with your life, just learn to like it. Think of it as a physical manifestation of your geekyness.

If it really worries you see a doc, but i've had these for years nothing major more annoying than anything else. The muscle twitches in your eye lids are probably due to playing alot of computer games in dark rooms where the refresh of the screen sends you eye muscles crazy. I only get them once in a while, unless i've been for a really log run or jog them it tends to happen in my legs. If your getting them really often it could be a sign of something. Have a read
