    <3 the 513.

    I am also tempted by a PRS Torero. I know, I know. Cheap. But I have yet to play one, so I will judge that later. But it's a damn sexy looking thing, no?

    Hardly a low budget guitar, but despite me being a fan of the marque I fail to see the sense of the model in it's price band. I'd pay the extra and get a Mira instead, but then again the terero is a blueprint superstrat, and I already got one!

    Well... cheap for a PRS. The reasons I like it:

    * Good looking guitar (Flame top, ebony fretboard, no inlays, nice contrasts)
    * Not hugely expensive
    * Pukka Floyd
    * Through neck
    * EMGs
    * Single volume, single tone

    Yeah it's a superstrat, but is a sexy one. I really want to play one to see what they are like. I generally like PRS SE guitars, but this one I really WANT to like.

    On topic for yesterday If you want an RR24 Go for it they are ****ing amazing guitars i played one in a music shop in manchester before the shop became a bloody subway :(

    The neck was so smooth and fast to play the action was just right and the sound it made was absoloutly gorgeous, one pickup and just a volume knob suited me down to a T as it was simple and all about 1 thing and thats the metal.

    Start with where the noise is coming from rather than gating it, it can give a really unnatural sound.

    Failing that, if it's got either a TC or MXR badge you can pretty much guarantee goodness.

    Just popped into my head, other than the gate built into the g major, I used to have an alesis micro rack gate that was fantastic.

    The noice im trying to kill is the standard buzz that comes from using a high gain amp i can turn off the volume from the guitar to kill it but i would rather just get a gate.

    Looking into noise gates myself. Very good for metal, as long as you set them right. Can get that lovely harsh clipping sound.

    Anyone know about Behringer pedals? mainly the Heavy Distortion300 (HD300) or the Super metal 300 (SM300) or would it just be best saving a bit more and getting a Boss DS-1 / OD-2?

    As mentioned I like the VOX's distortion but there could be more to it to make it sound better if you get me :/ right now its ok but nothing special

    Not a big fan of Behringer pedals. Have a look around for a GLX Distortion. Basically a DS-2, but cheaper and in a better shell (In my opinion). Good times. I have one of those GLX Heavy Metal pedals, and I rate them higher than the Boss Metal Zone stuff.

    Also on that note, have a terribad screencast about how awesome Studio One is.

    Will have a look out for one reason I was looking at Behringers was the fact they were £20-25 compared to Boss's £50+ will hunt for a GLX later on / tomorrow.

    The GLX stuff is normally £25, but since Boss has such a huge brand name, they can put a price premium on that stuff.

    Interesting...I'm using Cubase LE 4 here because it came with my soundcard, I don't suppose you've got any experience with that as well to compare to?

    I've used Cubase, but I find is so unintuitive compared to Studio One. If you want to jump in at the shallow end with Studio One, I would have a look at an Audiobox. Twin XLR / 1/4" inputs with phantom power, and comes with Studio One Artist. They also do a 1Box which is the Audiobox, plus Studio One Artist, some cables, a decent condenser mic, and some good monitor cans. Very awesome.

    I am using a Firestudio Project on that. Worth noting that their firewire stuff usually only likes certain FW chipsets. Hunt down and download OHCI Tool to check if your FW ports are supported, if you want to go that route.

    But I find Studio One so much easier and quicker to use and tweak than Cubase. You will note in that video I am using 64 bit Studio One (12GB of RAM on that rig. It would be a waste to use x86.) and I had to run Addictive Drums with JBridge, as it is a 32-bit plug in. something to keep in mind.

    Coolios, I'll probably download the demo at some point and give it a try :thumb: I've not done much more than recording a few guitar tracks on Cubase with some VSTs yet so I'm yet to see how well it handles drum machines. The copy I have has the disadvantage of being a 32bit version on a 6GB system but I haven't experienced any performance issues yet and the latency is next to un-noticable.

    I'm using a Lexicon Omega so don't have any need for a new soundcard :) I was worried about it being a bit 'dated' given that it's been around for a while but the sound quality is more than sufficient and it's got so many inputs that it benefits from doubling as mixer for my Xbox 360 and turntable.

    Ahh coolies. Studio One should get along with your soundcard no worries, but if you want mic inputs and stuff, their I/O boxes are at least the macth of any out there. Good live gear too.

    Have fun with the demo. You miss out on a bunch of loops and stuff, but it should give you a feel for how the program works.

    It's got two phantom powered XLRs and MIDI I/O too :) Was easily the best featured box for the money at the time (think I paid £130 for it).

    Will let you know how I get on with the demo, cheers for the tips.

    No worries dude! Get in touch if you need anything. :D

    I'm still inexperienced at mixing and mastering in general, but Studio One is so easy to use, even I can sound like Meshuggah.

    Seriously, I have spent barely any time at all properly using it, and it's so easy to work with.

    It's worth noting that you don't get access to the mastering / project window that I demonstrated unless you get Studio One Pro. Studio One Artist (which isn't a crippled version, just designed for hobbyists, really.) can't use that window, but you can still do basic mastering techniques.

    Good luck!

    I've been jamming with a REALLY good drummer i've found locally (blast beats on a single pedal. yum) and we've decided we're going to start recording some stuff..

    Im REALLY dying to try and get this tone (between 0:15 and 0:37)

    Any ideas pedal wise?

    That's a whammy pedal, yo. It sounds like they have it set to +1 octave and +2 octave. So when the pedal is kicked back, it's +1, and when forward, it's +2. The centre guitar is kicking from 0 to +1 back and forth like a wah, and the other two are doing held notes at +1 and jumping to +2 for the screaming note.

    I could technically do it without pedals in Studio One, or pretty much any capable DAW, but it's less fun that way.

    But a Digitech Whammy or Whammywah is where you need to go. I think Some of the Boss multieffects and Line 6 gear can do it too.

    Edit: Also, that's my amp in the back at 0.44! :D
