JCM900!!!!!! Damn... if I didn't live 12000km away, i'd be very very VERY tempted right about now... Sucks that you can't play anymore, though...
Schecter does just about it's entire range in left handed it seems, I've been using them recently as I really like the feel of them and for metal they sound really good. It's a bit of a pain trying to get hold of some models in the UK though.
I have been trying to get hold of some of their models in NAM... the only ones we can get here are the "El cheapo" series, which are quite rubbish from what I hear. It's a crying shame, because I played a Jeff Loomis signature once and liked it. Ever since then, I wanted a Hellraiser V8. DAT NECK! It's like a cricket bat. Also: I REALLY like the Syn Gates signature, and they're SO affordable.
I've got one of their cheap 7 strings as I didn't want to spend a lot on a 7 to find I didn't much like it, but my 6 string is the Hellraiser C1-FR and it is amazing. That said, it is pretty much the only decent one of their range available in the UK that I could find, it's a shame because I find they feel more comfortable than my Ibanez does.
As I said - I played a Loomis once, and I enjoyed it more than an Ibanez RG7321 or an Ibanez Universe (Yes - A Steve Vai signature - coincitentally, both axes belong to the same guy, who also has a Steph Carpenter signature and some more really expensive guitars). And I also heard that the cheaper ones are royal ass. I am weird and finicky with guitars I like though, and I am aware of that. I have played old Jackson performers, Original Series Jackson Randy Rhoads, and a Mustaine signature King V. I can honestly say that I hate playing Jacksons at any price point. I kinda like all Ibanez's stuff. But always just "Kinda". Make no mistake - My RG Prestige is a monstrous piece of kit that I love to bits, but given the choice between that and some others on my list, I'd take some of the others. I am OK with Gibsons/Epis, though my experience is limited. I played an Epiphone Les Paul Custom and thought it a bit "whatever". I played a mate's custom built (i.e. not just "custom labelled") Gibson Les Paul, and thought it nice enough, though not at the price. Yet, the one guitar I want more than anything else right now is a Gibson Les Paul Studio in Silverburst. The one guitar I REALLY loved playing was a cheap LTD Kirk Hammet signature. It made me VERY tempted to buy an ESP MII Standard that one of our music stores had floating around for just north of a metric f*ckton of cash (~2000 pounds they wanted for it). The other day I had a good jam on a PRS SE Paul Allender (Cradle of Filth) signature, and found it VERY attractive for the price (~800GBP). Nice playing, well built, good looking (in red)...pleasant. Many guitars that friends of mine worship I find a bit meh. Many guitars I want, my friends find "meh". but then... WTF do they know...
From what you've said above, I wish you could come have a play on my tele... And silverburst is awesome no matter what guitar it is on.
@Mankz - I once played a 1970s ('74, I THINK) teal Telecaster when my axe broke a string in the middle of a set (Floyd rose makes for great everything except restringing... ), as a backup. it played amazingly well, and sounded absolutely BRUTAL. Rumbling bass notes and screaming highs. Naturally scooped mids. I did offer my mate (who's guitar it was) a substantial amount of cash for it (similar to what I paid for my Ibanez Prestige), but he wouldn't part with it...
I assume there's no practical way of shipping from here to NAM? If there were I'd be happy to proxy for you Bent.
I meant my Washburn, which is half way between as Les Paul, pick-up wise, and a strat. Its got high out-put al-nickos, but not much body mass, so creates an interesting mix... and a neck thats been worn in for ~30 years is just borderline pornographic...
They're a lot cheaper than that over here (~£500) so i don't know if that's jst the way it is or if you can get it cheaper elsewhere.
GAK showing "call for delivery" as opposed to their usual "next day", though I don't get the impression bentanat is in a massive hurry. I imagine availability is down to whatever Headline have in the UK right now ready to go. PRS have some new lines inbound so perhaps that one isn't shipping right now. Tried the Tremonti in the vain hope that it would feel not too dissimilar to my CE22 & was disappointed, but it's a nice guitar for what it is. I mostly still find myself picking up my 20 year old charvel though, dunno why.
