As someone who likes Ibanez necks, get a Talman... steal one if you have to.
With the one I have being DIRT cheap, I can only imagine what the better ones are like.
And the necks are MUCH more like an electric than anything else acoustic that I've ever played on.

Anyone heard of Chapman Guitars? After I get a new PC, I want the ML-2 in either Antique Sunburst or Black Cherry. Or the ML-1 in antique sunburst. I'd get a blackstar tube combo or a blackstar head and a 2x 12" cab :)
    Check chapman out at http://www.andertons.co.uk

The chapmans look good.. .That Cherry one looks good. Though I generally dislike Sunburst more often than not.

The reviews in magazines seem decent as well... though I ADORE ESP necks...

^^ yeah, I heard from them thanks to a mate, which has the original limited ML-2 in natural (wood colour), and the new ML-1 in see-through black. Since then I started following Rob Chapman (a.k.a. The Monkeylord or "Chappers") on YouTube and such :)

I would look into getting one if he didn't act like such a smug, self-obsessed wang in all his videos... oh, and got a hair cut..

    Been a while!

I'm down to having just two of my guitars in London with me, my Tele and Explorer.. I swap between the two of them quite a bit.. Love the feel of the tele, but there is something so nice about a huge flat slab of a fretboard. Anyway. Oh, and ignore the 5 strings on the Ex.. lets say I've started playing anti-djent.

I started playing a lot more again in the last year or so.

I have also found an issue with seemingly all Ibanez RGs with floating bridges (my sample base is somewhat small): The mid-range (G-string around the 7th or 9th fret, for example) has NO sustain if played with any bass string, unless you vibrato the CRAP out of it (which, as anyone with a floyd will tell you comes with its own fun little note-pitching issues).

As a consequence, I am going to take my RG with me when I go visit my (much handier than me) dad over xmas. I am planning on blocking out the entire back cavity with a big piece of wood. That can hopefully help.

Other than that, I have discussed with my wife that I am allowed to order myself a custom job in 2016 (other money plans in 2015).
It's something I have theorised a lot about, and the "porn-spec" is all sorted already (ask me... i dare you).

I'v also started playing again recently after picking up Rocksmith for £5 thought it was worth a laugh. I'm ashamed to admit its actually quite fun to play, I can't comment on its teaching abilty as I've been playing for 10 years on and off.

Toying with getting a hollow body Les Paul for xmas but we shall see.

    Ooo, a guitar thread.

I have an early 90's Jap Strat which I picked up over ten years ago with the aim of becoming the next SRV. :) I love it but it hardly leaves its hard case these days.

Since discovering custom shop luthiers, I am stuck in a place where I want nice guitars, but not for the price.

Example: A really nice Ibanez Prestige is almost in line with a RAN price wise
    A J-Custom is more than a Skervesen
A high end Gibson Les Paul is in like with a VIK or a Hufschmid or a Mayones. Possibly even a strandberg.

If your happy with a bolt on neck why not build it yourself?

Otherwise get the body and do the electrics yourself.

Well, for one, I don't know what I am really doing.
Secondly: I have about ten left thumbs.

That headstock looks a tad fragile..

Can't be worse than a Les Paul though I suppose..

On an unrelated note, one of these days I'm gonna cave and buy a PRS semi-hollow.

I have it from good sources that Skervesens are built to the highest standards... :)

I am getting one... in a year or two. 2500 Euros may need some saving up for.

I really want an ESP Eclipse loved that guitar for a while, just cant justify the price when my Razorback is perfectly good.

I've heard similar, despite appearances the headstocks are apparently pretty solid.

I've decided no more guitars for me until I feel like my playing is a good enough standard to justify a custom. I would love to get a custom natural finish explorer. I love the shape of explorers but getting a lefty one is pretty difficult so might as well get one to my spec if I went for it.

    Christ, inverse pointy headstock :nono:

We don't have a vomiting smiley, or I'd have used that instead. However, this smiley is pretty appropriate (even though I think that guitar looks rank)
