    You might want to consider giving more information, like; what are you gonna be using it for? Gaming, Office work?

    Do you require high battery life or a bigger tft?

    The Asus A4000K (Asus A4744K-LH) is a great laptop, keeping with ASUS's tradition of style, quality, and proformance. I would not at all consider it a bad investment, it's my first choice for a AMD64 laptop. However I, personally, would prefer a Pentium M (Dothan) laptop (such as the Asus M6Bne or V6v) based because of they're very competive proformance, fairly good price, slim size and great battery life.
