Tbh I tend to dislike most of the "new" guard of metal, *core etc. There's no real flair and the production is too "clean" and mechanical.

My top albums of all time (no particular order):
    Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time (massively overlooked IMO)
Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny
    Saxon - Crusader
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell

Check out these guys if any of you are into thrash metal:

Another Metalcore fan here, though I only like particular bands as a lot of them I just find tuneless and noisy so I can't listen to them. Favourites would be Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, Killswitch Engage and All that Remains.

I'm into other metal too, like older groups such as Metallica, but at the moment my taste is going more towards progressive stuff like The Human Abstract or Between the Buried and Me.

Yup... Just can't get into them.
I normally get similar reactions when mentioning Metallica and Tool on the dislike lsit as well.
IMHO, Maynard James Keenan made one good album, and that was Mer des Nomes with APC.

Surprised to see them listed but glad they're finally getting noticed. Used to be friendly with them before they picked up Alexis when I lived in knoxville. I hadn't thought about them at all in 10 years or so and then boom - they're showing up on my Pandora station.

    Anyway, yeah, metalhead here.

I am more old school metal really, don't like a lot of the new bands.

Like: Maiden, AC/DC, Saxon, Sabbath the usual...

    Also liking Sword,

    Dislike with a passion Trivium.

Going to see Maiden at the O2, Up the Irons!!

Likes: Dream Theater, Tool, Metallica, Alexisonfire, Matsodon, The Syncope Threshold/I, Omega and Exit Ten, among others. Oh, and Type O Negative (RIP Pete Steele, such a unique voice)

Dislikes: Nothing much, except Enter Shikari and MCR, and I'm not the biggest fan of Lostprophets past Liberation Transmission.

Oh would just like to add my fav "metal" band right now has to be Times of Grace they are just win all over, KsE as I said before I like alot and Maiden are what i like of "old school metal".

As for general metalcore I quite like most of it but hate some too, if its as someone else stated mindless chugging and lyrics you can't understand without looking them up I dont like it.. but right now my fav bands are Rise against (not metal I know) and Times of grace :)

I'm pretty much hooked on stuff by Misery Signals, Deadlock and Shadows Fall at the moment.
Usually I'm not much of a fan when it comes to the darker metal, I usually listen to stuff like Kamelot or Pain of Salvation... but recently I've had a little bit of a splurge for the more hard stuff.

Blind Guardian and Dream Evil are still my favourite bands though.

    Don't liek Phil Anselmo?
Sure - he might be a twit, but ZOMG the man has a voice... Cemetary Gates is (IMHO) possibly the best song ever written...

that doesn't sound fun. about like when I saw A Perfect Circle 3 days after breaking my back(fracture/compression at L1, right at the bottom of the ribs). Never been so scared to see a mosh open when they went into Judith.

Cemetary Gates was good but I wasn't as big a fan of him attempting to sing as when he got more aggressive from Vulgar Display of Power on... Also, not mine, but I'll leave this here. This kid is being brought up right.

We should totes meet up at some point, if this is the case. I will buy you some food.

Mankz no can eat solid food for 6 weeks. Beer, however, is an approved dietary supplement due to the calories it contains :thumb:
