Just stupidly fried my shuttle, knocked an entire pint on it while it was on, up in smoke. I built the system myself but being a shuttle and decent components most computer tech shops round here wont know what the hell most of the components are and will end up quoting me for generic crap. So im asking for anybody that actually works in/owns a computer shop and can give me an offical written quote on the replacement of my machine that I can give to my insurance company (i have accidental cover for my comp so thats fine - just need it valued by sombody with some offical status). I'm willing to pay a fee for this service of course. I'm no an expert but i do know that if you go to pissy werld they will do you a quote... (hear me out, i can hear you all grumbling at the thought of pissy werld from here) anyhoo, they don't have a clue about pc's use it to your advantage, show them the specs and they will quote you the equivilent price of one of their off the shelf behemoths, and i bet you its stupidly expensive even though the parts are all generic peices of shite. I insured my pc a few years back based on high street prices of current hardware and i was able to say my pc was worth £2k even though it wasn't what i actually paid for it. Shame i never spilled a pint on it
I'd disagree will, I'd take it down to a local PC repair shop, a proper one, show them the specs, let them see for themselves, and then draft up an insurance quote based on web-prices.
Im taking it to my local pc shop tomorrow, I've printed all webprices/specs to take with me, so hopefully he can add his 'labour' tag ontop and give me an overall quote.
