Also anyone know if anyone else other than scan is selling it? Though I must admit. Not a bad price for that cooler
Couple of cheap multi fan options on dabs.com tends to be cheaper than scan and the like, none in stock but you should be able to order at the lower prices and be sorted when they come in, did the same with my 290s as dabs was the only place i could buy them under 300 quid.
If you're referring to my build then thanks. It's nice to be able to mine with 4 GPUs completely silently. During gaming the cards sit around the mid to high 50s temperature wise. But mining sees that rise to around 65 degrees. If you can make these cards quiet, they are awesome.
Thought i'd pop another in my main machine, 3x290s @ stock because one is still on air and throttles majorly ( down to 660 or something ) if the fan is not up high and I twiddle any of the knobs, hopefully Ocuk deliver my link thing next week. EDIT - added results from overclocked (1100/1500) on water, Max FPS not much higher, guess my CPU can't back it up but better overall. 3rd card not as capable as others when it comes to overclocking, looks like this is a second sourced PCB and not one of AMDs reference like the other two despite being same brand etc. Looses me ~100Mhz from core. Now just waiting for the screen to punish them before deciding on 4
I've done a bit but that's on my 7950s, this is a gaming rig, the money 7950s are taking second hand it seems a shame not to sell some and take advantage to buy my 290s , particularly with a 4k screen coming from work
Couple more benches with some overclock 1100/1350 Fire strike extreme 2x290 Fire strike extreme 3x290 Will probably be a touch higher when on water as it won't throttle but it didn't drop too badly with the noise maker cranked up.
Hey all, I already have two XFX R9 290 mining under water. I am now itching to add a third one, although my motherboard (ROG Z77 V Formula) only support 16 pcie lanes. So this means that the cards will be on 8x4x4x. I saw benchmarks for gaming wherby the difference between 16x and 4x is negligeble. However these were performed on 1080p. Would running three 290s in trifire 8x4x4x be a serious bottleneck for an eyfinity setup with three 1920*1200? Has anyone benchmarked this?
If you are running an ivybridge or newer you will be on PCie 3.0 and that x4 is double the old standard so would be equiv to a PCI e 2.0 x8 that plenty of CF/SLI setups ran in the past no bother, so you'll probably be fine, the new cards don't have bridges and use PCI-e bus now though so not sure if that will have any impact.
Bit of tweaking now all three 290s are on water 13285 Firestrike Extreme Would be more but my PSU cannae take it.
Jeeze! Some impressive scores no doubt! People with AMD cards should do some Battlefield 4 runs in multiplayer, then try again when the Mantle patch is released. I'd be excited to see the difference.
