Killdisk enables the secure erasure of hard drives but it takes up to an hour to run zeros against every sector. Is there any thing faster but as secure?
Not sure if you can get a combination of quick + secure erasing. Last time I tried DBAN I think it was around 2.5 hours for 3 passes on a 160GB Maxtor drive. If you don't need the drive anymore you could always take it apart and smash the platters up.
can't remember the name offhand.. but some guy wrote a hd killer that ran in xp- have the script somewhere on disk I'd go with the multi wipe methods if I was inclined to destroy a disk (I don't have anything to hide though heheh)
for scrap drive's i smack it about with a club hammer and drive a screwdriver though it!! that works!!
If you want only zeros on your drive then the only way to do it is to put zeros everywhere. Whichever way you do it (software) will still be limited by the drive itself. I say that but maybe there is something that actually can do it fast and I just don't know about it
