So tried re-wicking my RBA the other day.
What a cock up that was....the cotton that came with my subtank just kind of shredded in the middle of the pad so couldn't pull the strips through the coil without them snapping. Queue much anger and growling until I managed to get a bit though.
Even then it's still rubbish because of the faffing and I'm certain I cut them too short (again).

Also re-coiled the 2 OCC heads (for practice more than anything) and as my new Muji cotton from Amazon arrived, I wicked both of the OCC heads in 2 minutes flat.

Feeling prepared for stab number 3 at re-wicking the RBA now... :)

Once you've nailed it you will be able to strip down, wash, wind a new coil, wick it and put it all back together again in about 10 minutes. It gives an additional dose of self-satisfaction each time you do it.

I bought clones because at the time the original Nemesis was selling for over $200, but for £40 I could get an hcigar clone which performed as well as the original and didn't rip off any trademarks, logos, etc. I am NOT paying $200 or so for a metal bloody tube and another £30 to change the springs to magnets. (I don't actually use the Nemmy any more, but it still works just as well as it did when I bought it over a year ago.) And I bought from fasttech because the markup that a lot of UK retailers charge is tantamount to robbery; good B&M stores with knowledgeable staff who don't overprice things are hard to come by.

These days I don't think there's any need to buy clones. Drippers are available dirt cheap that perform just as well as something that'll cost you £100; clearomisers like the Atlantis or the Subtank will give you flavour and vapour production that you once had to turn to RBAs to get.

Things have moved on a hell of a lot in the vaping world and frankly I can't be bothered to keep up any more. I don't really care about the latest and greatest overpriced shiny thing. I found a great clearo tank that works for me - I have no intention of changing from the subtank for the forseeable future. My istick will do up to 50W and runs atomisers down as low as 0.2 ohms - I don't intend to replace it until it starts to die.

We've moved far far beyond the "fake ***" things I started off with years ago.

EDIT: On a related note, if I could stop burning my subtank heads by letting my tank run dry however, that'd be nice...

Rewicked the rba and its vaping like a dream.
The occ rebuild not so much. One doesnt work ("Atomiser low" on the istick) and the other leaks like crazy....

Compared to the horizontal coils they're pap, way down on flavour and vapour, questionable wicking too for me.

Yeah, the coil is built vertically instead of horizontally.

Couldn't disagree more. Even at the same wattage the flavour and vapour production is better. Add that to the fact that they handle up to 60/70 watts and you have a far superior head. They gargle less too.

Crosspost from latest purchases, because it's relevant here.

My iStick 50W is pretty much dead; it keeps cutting out or reading "Low Power" even when the battery is full. It does work, but something in the charger/regulation circuit is wonky and I don't want to muck around with LiPo/LiIon cells. So I ordered an IPV D2 Temp Control mod:

And because I now have a temperature control mod, I thought it only right that I get some nickel coils:

I also wanted some regular coils:

    And on that note...

I couldn't agree more with this. The regular coils crap out around 25W for me, but I can run the vertical coils at 45-50W without getting any hint of a dry hit.

And finally... I have now switched over to zero nicotine juice. It's a little... odd. The hit feels really different - throat hit is more or less the same, but it doesn't quite "bite" like it used to. But I'm prepared to stick with it; vaping was a totally different "hit" when compared to smoking, but I got used to it. Eventually I'll get used to zero nic.

The EU and the Welsh government can take their proposed ban, their TPD, their daft legislation, etc and cram it where the sun don't shine because I no longer use any nicotine products whatsoever :).

That's a lot of nicotine. :eeek:

I've been buying 72mg 50ml or 100ml bottles at a time, not seen 100mg anywhere.
But I think on my next juice batch I'll do nicotine free, see how it goes.

It's not inconceivable that the 2 vert coils that I got were knackered to start with, or they don't like 90+% VG,but as I don't go over 20W anyway and as the standard coils wirk bloody well for me I'm in no rush to find out either way :)

I've gone right off high VG juice now, the really foggy room thing wasn't nice but what I thought was condensation on some surfaces in the path of my vaping was actually oily VG build up, was almost enough to put me off vaping.

But I made a bottle of high PG spearmint flavour & chain vaped to try & make the room foggy but the air stayed nice & clear.

So the stash of high VG juices I have I'll just dilute with PG, even 50/50 will be 50% less fog & oily gunk on surfaces, I might go ahead & make some high PG batches though, it really does seem a lot healthier while still giving a satisfying vape, more so with flavour tasting stronger in PG.

Diluted the heavy VG juice twice so is now 75/25 pg vg, nicotine is down to 0.8mg nicotine & flavour is down to 5%, the air clears quicker & it still tastes good surprisingly. :)

Vaping has certainly come a long way since about a year ago

I'm on a mission to have two working set ups that I can rebuild easily and that will do me.

So I have my subox mini (great, love the subtank) and I recently bought a Coolfire 4 40w and have a Goblin Mini coming.

I reckon that will be me sorted until something dies, I like watching GrimmGreen and Pbusardo but generally just because I like them, never really prompts me to purchase anything.
