Went to see Example last night at a club, and it was loud. As in, the microphone on my phone got raped by it. And because of this the audio is crackly and yuk. Is there anyway to clean it up?

I can upload the video to Youtube if you want to hear what I mean by the crackling?

    Thanks.

You could run it through MS Movie Maker (or something better like Adobe Premier, Sony Vegas, Cyberlink, etc...) and try dropping the audio recording levels, however it's my understanding that the distortion will now be part of the audio recording, hence not fixable...

That said, Audacity allows you to remove certain frequencies from an audio recording. Split the audio from the video using one of the tools above and give it a try...

PS Never heard of Example. What kind of music? Any good?

yes, @cleggmeister is correct. the distortion is part of the recording and anything you do to try and reduce it (i.e. audacity) will also affect the music.

I could probably do it with what I know.. I don't do audio anymore but I did work in a music studio back in the 90's.. sample the pops and remove just those distortions- there's only so much you can do though and it takes time ;o

like anything.. experience- I dunno if you can do it with the free programs out.. there's a lot of good filters for older programs like cool edit pro and adobe audition (which is cool edit bought out basically) that would work good and simple to use

like here's a couple I did for bit-tech a couple years ago when they were having problems getting the mics setup correctly.. I brought up all the voices and eliminated the background noise cause they were all at different distances from the microphone.. you couldn't hear some, but then others with the sound turned up would blow your ears out xD they've gotten better so no need anymore

you loose some fidelity but at least you can hear all the people

And thanks, I'll upload the video so you can get a better understanding of what I mean, hopefully. I'll give Audacity a look in.

    Thanks!
