    Hi everyone :)

I'm currently thinking of going to CeBit 2013, but I'm not quite sure how it works. I think their homepage is limited on information, so i might aswell ask in here.

Have anyone been there? Did you go as a consumer or did you represent a company? How expensive is the stay (with accomodation etc.)?

If you know any large consumer-electronic faires in Europe, please let me know :) Barcelona has alot of stuff too, but I've never been to one before, so i hope someone might be able to tell me about their experiences!

    Thanks in advance :)

    I went last year.

I got the tickets from my union (IDA) and it was just a day trip. If you are at the uni they might have something arranged like last year.

    My advise:
    It's a massive area so
    - Plan which halls you want to visit beforehand. Visit company websites to find hall/booth locations and any special event times or go to the CeBIT page to get a floor-plan
    - Wear comfortable shoes!
    - Hannover town does home-stay, which is v.cheap and the people are usually nice, but sometimes you have to be home 'early'. The trams are cheap.
    - Almost goes without saying to a Dane: Bring warm clothes and an umbrella. It rains/snows/hails regularly.
    - Try to register as media or trade and go on non-consumer open days. Those days are generally veryyy busy.
    - Buy food from a store BEFORE going to the event. Food inside is crap and extremely expensive.
    - IFA is probably better these day :p but it's also only 2 weeks away hoho

You going for blogging/work/news writing or just shits n giggles?

    Solid advice, thank you :)

I'm going for fun, mostly to geek out away from the missis :p I might be able to get tickets through my boss, so i might be able to go as a non-consumer :)

I've been to CeBit a few times - the sheer scale of it still takes me by surprise when I walk in!

Bring your own food is good advice, especially drinks. I can never find anywhere to even buy a drink and where they do sell them they will rip you off big time.

All the hotels in hannover get completely booked up and if you leave it to the last minute they are often > €300 per night.

I went to IFA once but personally I found CeBit more interesting. IFA is more consumer orientated (and has a whole area for white goods:yawn:), CeBit is more business orientated although it does have quite a bit gaming section.
