Aye i too am interested so subscribing to the thread. I got a Siemens SL45 and would be interested in the results, hopefully its a bit faster for data transfer than its horrid Serial connection. Interested in making a pcb for a student down south TheRider? Happy to send some money your way, how much did you get done at farnell for delivery?

Sorry ppl I didnt get any 0.01uF Caps supid me! I cant test it till I get some. Probably tomorrow.

If I had any decent knowlege about electronics, I might be able to simplyfy my scheme, Looking something like the Jaycar model.

Beware ppl Farnell sell 2 varieties of the HSDL-1100 IR transiever, one is flat the other is upright like mine (pictured). Dont get the wrong one read the pdf for details.

    HSDL-1100-017 Upright
    HSDL-1100-018 Flat

Farnell delivery was FREE minimum order of £10

    JazzXP,
I can host pix for ya if you email em to me.

Ok... the resistors are just Ohm... not K (At least that's what the schematic said)... the IR Module is TFDS4500 (not sure what brand)... it's SMD.

Those Caps sound about right to me (from memory)... the second terminal on the IR Receiver doesn't need to be hooked up to anything.

LSP5 doesn't need to be there... I only put it there because on the actual board it goes to a solder point, but nothing is connected to it.

Can you let me know how I decide which capacitors to use?

Do you have any Mappers codes for them?

    Would this type work?

    One more question:

The schematic you have drawn is for the TFDU4500 ot TFDT4500 not the TFDS4500. The latter has a different pin configuration.

Are you sure you can't somehow use the mobo IrDA port with a regular remote?

This is the IR bits that you need to plug onto the IR header of your motherboard. Not all cases come with one fitted :)

I am going to have a go at making one next week and will post my findings. I am also willing to make tham for others so if you are interested they will probably cost about £7 + P&P (for parts and time).

Let me know if anyone is interested

Called my local "have all components" guys and apparently they don't stock the ir module or anything similar which means I screwed.

I wish SA would just jack you and get their **** together.

Will have to look again elsewhere for the module.

If you like I can get one here in the UK and send it to you. You could pay for it via PayPal (I'll work out a cost inc P&P and let you know in Rand and US$)

has anyone built on yet and actually got it to work?

het me know cause I don't really won't to get an ir module sent all the way from the uk just to find out that it doesn't work.

meblin, thanks for the offer. Just let me know how much it'll cost me and I'll give you the word when.

    edit:
seems paypal doesn't like SA. I'll have to find another way to transfer money
