    Hi all,

I bought a mobo/cpu from scan.co.uk, since it arrived I've had nothing but trouble with it. I sent it back to scan, within 28 days, and they claim that it works correctly. So, as scan are refusing to fulfil their legal requirements, I'm left with going to the small claims court. I've read quite a bit about scan and it seems that many people have had similar problems. A number of these people also mention an intention of going to the small claims court but I haven't seen anything from people who've done this.

I have legal assistance and I am intending to start filling out the forms soon. Even so I've been wondering if any other people have had to resort to the (UK) small claims court because of h/w issues? What sort of experience was it? Has anyone had to take action against scan?

I apologise if this is a breach of etiquette but I'd appreciate any insight that anyone can provide.

    Thanks,
    Pjay

Did you go to trading standards before going down the route of small claims court? Trading standards in my experience are pretty helpful about getting these things resolved without going to court - a letter from them works wonders ;)

Welcome to the forum btw :)

    I've emailed them

I emailed Bolton trading standards when I first started having trouble with Scan, but they didn't really have much to say. Would it be a good idea to write them a letter?

Also try some magazines/newspapers as they have sections where readers can write in about a problem about a company and they (the magazine/newspaper) will try to help you resolve it. Try helpinghand@pcpro.co.uk

I initially considerd sending an email to CustomPC, but dropped that idea because scan advertises with them. And also because I've been trying to sort this out quickly.

I've had this problem for 3~ months now. It's become increasingly obvious that scan's been messing me about for the last month. I suppose that because of the problem (50GB of data trashed) and my contact with them I've come to have a *very* poor opinion of scan. Am I being unfair in thinking that they won't be amenable without being forced by the courts?
