Just a problem I'm trying to sort out at work. Whenever anyone copies 8944121395180945049 into a cell, Excel picks up the number as 8944121395180940000 Any ideas as to how, and how to get around it. All machines are Windows XP, based on Office 2003. Thanks
I assume there will be no calculations carried out on the number, if so format the cell as text then when pasting it in use Past Special/Text
Its probably too big a number for the cell so it uses exponents which excel doesn't display as accurately. I'm not sure there is a way around it, i think its just a limitation of the software. Text won't work, you'll need to place a ' in front of it to actually tell excel to leave it as is.
Text will work so long as you set the cell format to text and use paste special/text I think excel has a 15 digit limitation, after that it will round down.
