You know, skill toys... Yo-yos, tops, juggling, devilsticks, diabolo, poi, etc? Just curious if any of you liked that kind of stuff. I, personally, enjoy playing with yoyos and doing poi. I used to be able to pull of some nice string tricks with yoyos but i havent picked one up in a while...
i play with yoyos occasionally. i spent £30 on a viper (its a yoyo) and can do lots of tricks with it. ive also got a diabalo which i found the day before yesterday so its quite funny you brought up this topic.
My guitar is a "skill toy" but I'm not very good yet. I never really saw the attraction to yo-yos. When literally every boy in my Year 7 class at school had one, I still managed to hold out. I finally resolved myself to the fact I needed to get one to avoid having the urine constantly extracted, but the next day they were out of fashion!
the same happened to me but i kept practising at home. my friend also tried to revive the "craze" last month at our sixth form. it did last most of the week and was quite fun but then it died again.
that's exactly waht happened to me too I spent like £15 or something on a yo-yo (a lot of money when you're 9) and on the Monday nobody had one I've still got that yo-yo..... somewhere
I too have a viper, very nice yoyo, but i used it mostly for offstring tricks. i started playing with yoyos long after the "craze" ended. I started after i saw some videos of some insane tricks being done with them (the "coolest" trick i ever saw during the craze was rock the baby). Ive spent about $65 on three yoyos, and i had great fun, and now Im planning on buying a few more for my birthday.
i love messing around with skill toys. i can yoyo a little but cant really do many tricks. i know how to use devil sticks but im not that great at that. i own a diabolo and have had some success with it but nothing to brag about. i am however an avid juggler. i can do 3 rings, 3 clubs (not many tricks yet but can still juggle them pretty well, tried passing clubs with a guy once and was able to do it and it was way fun), 3 balls with lots of tricks 4 balls with some tricks and im learning 5 balls now and can flash 5. i can do 2 in one hand and somtimes have some success with 3 in one hand. havn't juggled much in a while, im on one of my breaks where i dont do it for a while. i most of my juggling stuff at work so when i need a break i can just pick up some balls and do the mills mess for a while, that usually clears the mind. juggling is teh rox
bah! I could never juggle.. stupid gravity always kept stealing my balls! lol, Ive always been interested in contact juggling, that looks sexy, but i never got around to practicing much. Ill stick to my yoyos Btw, if anyone is interested, i found a very cool yoyoing video for your viewing pleasure here. Poi is awsome too! very relaxing. Id try fire poi but my parents dont like the idea much
I used to be really into juggling at one point. I can juggle 3 balls and do quite a few tricks. I can also juggle 3 rings. I never quite managed clubs though. Still got all juggling gear somewhere.
i play guitar and drive.... fast, high powered cars are serious skill toys.... at least thats what i try telling the cops when they pull me over
juggling, I have rings and clubs here but some of the more interesting things I've juggled. 4 balls (really hard to get right. Think 2 in each hand) 5 balls. 3 rusty meat cleavers at a chalet in France (showing off) 3 tennis racquets, then 2 balls and one racquet (much more difficult because of the difference in weight/size) When I was in high school the PE teacher and me were both avid jugglers. We'd juggle 5 between us and stuff like that. I really enjoy frisbees in every possible way - Ultimate football, frisbee golf etc. I guess that counts as a "skill toy" Oh, cderalow, I understand that, I was riding with a buddy of mine in his civic (JDM Integra type R motor swap) racing against another friend in his M3 (we smoked him, btw) and got a ticket... not cool. (Before anyone gets any bad ideas about this, it was stupid and reckless and I wont be doing it again. Word to the wise, take it to the track)
Mind you it has to be said that Poi can be learned in an evening, so can it be classed as a real skill toy? Juggling on the other hand is a hard discipline to learn.
well i've been doing it for 4 years and i keep getting better you can learn the basics of juggling in an evening also *n (currently practicing with two-balled fire poi)
