IB is the International baccalaureate, harder than a-levels, more challenging, but not many places do it.

Ah, the IB is a very worthwhile thing to go after, far more worthwhile then anything we do in public UK schools.

I don't know a whole load about it, but I do know its hard as nails to get through, so good luck N/A, and just keep in mind how far that IB will get you in life, and how much you can do with it :)

Im starting IB next year, its many international schools that follow this program. I just happen to be in one and its a real pain from what i hear. We had a informational lecture today about course choices.. sounds "fun".. Well, just do your best to get everything done.. My gf had to finish her WL for today as well.. shes in 11th grade though so i guess not the same year as you. My sister, who is in her last year of IB had to hand in her essays last week. also working like crazy to get them done. All i could advise would be to work hard now, go out once, and then just keep working till exams are over and then just relax.

BTW, what school do you attend?

I'm in my last year of IB as well, and I can definitely understand what you're going through. Thankfully, I'm done my extended essay and both World Lits, as well as my TOK Essay. But I still have English Oral Exam left. I am definitely feeling the stress, but I feel that it's a very worthwhile program in the long term. Good luck in getting through it!
By the way, I'm assuming you're in the Diploma Program considering you're doing the Extended Essay.

    Yes, I'm deploma

Man.. I think I'm dead... my EE is like only at 1600 words... still 3400 words to go....

Just handed in both WL's today, and TOK essay will be handed in tomorrow.... but I'm not going to re-write, just edit the "topic 3 Statistic...." one.

Our IB co-ordinater gave me a 33.... he said anything over 30 is an "A"... so hopefully editing it today will push it up to a 35 and a garenteed A for sure.

Still haven't done english orals yet.... or TOK orals....

My biggest fear is MAndarin Orals and Geo (HL) Orals

My smallest fear is Bio HL and Chem SL.... they're the easiest. :)

too bad I have no one to share my pain with except for one person.

You know what they say.... misery loves company...

Boy do I pity you, you have so many Orals. All I have are Francais A2 (done) and English A1 and TOK (also done). What country are you in?

A few of the schools here in my county have an IB program while the rest of us have AP (Advanced Placement). In general, U.S. colleges accept AP courses as college credit (not as many accept IB), while IB is great if you want to go to college outside of the U.S.

Personally, I enjoy these college-level courses a lot more than regular courses. Not only are you ensured to be in an environment with intelligent people (as they are all taking a college-level during high school), but I generally have less work outside of class (but the homework I do get (essays, tests) are much more difficult and time-consuming).

Good luck with that though. :thumb:

I'm in IB as well and I definitely can't wait for it to be over. I just did my English orals last week, and have yet to do my ToK essay, my extended essay, my spanish oral, and my ToK oral. So I'm just a bit behind and a huge procrastinator.

What poems/novels/etc do you guys have for your English Orals?

I'm in IB1, mock exams starting next week and i have a fever :s But on the other hand, I don't quite get the hardships the others are describing, i have two friends, one year older than me and they got like 42 and 39 predicted grades, one got invite to cambridge, the other one got invite to talk with MIT and Oxford and they don't seem to be working more than I am... On the other hand, our school is a bit less tight on deadlines tho. Last month IB2 had their draft EE deadline and most of people half of their written works already handed in, and final draft extended essay deadline is somewhere in February i believe, given that we have winter break in 2nd and third week of Feb that should be pretty much doable...

@lex, what is your predicted grade?

I know only one person who did an IB. He still had to do a foundation year to do Electronic Engineering and the University of Surrey....pretty harsh i thought!!

Goold luck though...can't say I know you're pain but I've heard plenty about it...

I did IB, was quite fun actually, I slacked off 24/7, did things last minute, took my time on essays, I really didn't give a crap about the whole thing, I did my EE overnight, 4,700 words, had to cut it down, I hardly did anything at all really. Took my exams.. and I got my dual language IB diploma with 30 points over 48. Not bad eh? :p

Learn time management, b/s'ing, and condensing. It's really not that hard to do good. My other friend passed his diploma with exactly 24 points, the minimum needed to get your diploma.
