Modding Anyone know at what temperature (approx) acrylic/plexi will melt?

    Just trying to find approximate melting temp of acrylic/plexi sheets. Thanks for any help.

    varies by thickness/area... most strip heaters will go to 250-350F

    you can use a propane torch or a regular heatgun to melt them.... there's even ways to do it in your over, though its pretty risky.

    best trick is to just experiment and find out, because it'll vary be exact composition of the material as well

    yeah extruded, cast, and continous cast all have different properties.

    it depends on the way it was cast and composition and such. but it isnt anything you would encounter in normal pc conditions

    Not to mention acrylic, plexigalss, and other variations are all different. They each have their own melting point. If I remember right, Lucite (the top quality acrylic) has the highest melting point. But don't quote me on that one.

    and Lexan will bend when its at room temperature, too. takes a bit of force, but its something to take into consideration. LEXAN, mind you. not acrylic/plexi.

    Yup, very different. If you want easy to bend stuff, get Lexan. If you want really hard, solid, strong stuff, get Lucite. If you just want something easy to cut and easy to bend with a bit o' heat, acrylic/plexi will do you fine.
