I remember once seeing at some mod site how some guy was going to a LAN party and had to get his case modded before then. It was a silver (I think) Chieftec Dragon he had just got. I remember seeing how he had used some EL cable inside the groove on the front panel. Something like this: I no idea however, how he was able to open the door once the cable had been put through this groove. I was thinking of doing this until I noticed this flaw in the idea. What's the solution?! Thanks, DeX
Two pieces of EL wire? One on the door, with a fly lead coming to the hinge side to allow the door to open, and a second static piece on the bottom. I guess both sets of fly leads can be made as lobg as necessary to run back to each other in the case, so they can be hooked up to the same inverter.
I have an Antec case and I used 2 pieces of EL wire and hooked them up through a hole in the case. Its pretty easy. Now painting that thing will be the tough part.
Hmm well I've never used EL calble before. What does the end of it look like? (the end not attached to the invertor). Does it end abruptly or is there some kind of massive termination plastic block on the end which stops all the flourescent goodness ozing out? I was just thinking if it is possible to cut it to the right size or even into to two peices which would allow to make two seperate wires on the same invertor. DeX
EL wire (or cable) looks like unusually large, opaque fishing line. So, it's really easy to work in and out of tiny spaces. You can cut off small lengths and rewire them to be connected to the same inverter, or a secondary inverter if you have too great a length of wire. Check out some of the past modding articles by the bit tech guys. They do some amazingly creative things with the stuff. S.
