Anyone seen any good deals on a GTX 470's as I have seen a post on another forum referring to a £265 card. No other info was provided as this was on a retailer forum and competitor posts are not allowed. I need to replace my GTX 275 which I may have fried and my options are either a cheap GTX 470 or a HD 5850 which I hear overclocks like the clappers. I do not know if a 5870 will be worth it.

Thanks, that's just the one I was looking for :thumb:

I have never used Aria before so would you know by any chance if they were reliable - I know they have been around for awhile.

I used Aria once for prices, and there customer services leaves a lot to be desired.

I had to RMA my mobo, and while the RMA went through in a week and a half, there was no communication in between. They ignored 3-4 emails from me, and I rang them about 5-6 times on hold for over 10 minutes every time and NEVER speaking to a person. They say you only get one chance at first impressions, and Aria thoroughly blew there's for me.

Good shop. Pray you have to send nothing back.

Haha, my full rant is documented here:

    http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=186033

Quick delivery, good prices, and a good albeit very silent RMA process.

What got my back up was I dropped nearly 2k on them, and they couldn't be bothered to answer the f'ing phone to me for the simplest of questions.

Since then I've always paid the Scan tax. Yeah there ~5% dearer. Well you get what you pay for in this world :thumb:

    Hi Saguy

Just my two bits worth. I would recommend an ATI HD 5850 (maybe the XFX Black Edition or the Sapphire Toxic) over the NVIDIA GTX 470. The 470 has just been released and is in very short supply which is why the prices are higher than they should be. The ATI 5850s deliver more bang for the buck in my opinion.

Are GTX470s really in short supply there now?

In the US supply problems are over now that the preorders have been filled. For example, at newegg (one of our largest etailers) they have 11 different GTX480s in stock, and 10 different GTX470s, all at MSRP or very close to it. (and it's been that way for days)

I'd say the GTX470s have more bang for buck, at least at US pricing- they're faster cards, have much better DX11 and AA performance. (and more proprietary features) Not bad for a $40USD price difference.
