I agree entirely about Your Orange, it's really useful if you have a fairly restrictive contract, allowing you to keep an eye on usages. Forgot about this one, the Barcode Scanner app is absolutely awesome.
My favourite Android app unfortunately disappeared from the marketplace some time ago. It's called "My Collection Pro", and it keeps track of my DVD collection. The best part is data entry, which uses the barcode scanner on the DVD case, then downloads the disc info from Amazon.
Just discovered andromote, streams media from your upnp server, its very cool!. You can use wmp or i recommend mediatomb to the linux guys.
My hero is still well within it's contract with Orange, would I have to till it was out of contract to unlock/flash it? I am tempted to try to get 2.1 but don't now if it will knacker my phone up.
im pretty much in the same situation, I honestly dont see what is taking orange so long to simply add some shitty splashscreen and change the default homepage :/
I'm just trying to get 2.1 on now. Following this info: http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-hero/54802-how-root-install-custom-rom-backup-more.html I'll let you know whether I brick the phone or not soon
Well as I said, I flashed the phone OK. I used the villainROM: The phones still working, with mobile net access etc. So now I have some 2.1 goodness, are there any recommendations for other apps or tips & tricks?
2.1 update I too have been toying with the idea of a non-official upgrade. If I do this, will I still get the notification of the official upgrade and will I be able to accept it? Cheers
As I previously mentioned I flashed my Orange Hero a week or 2 back, and loving it, the way I see it is if I need to take it back because of a fault I can just flash it with the latest Orange rom on the HTC website, might even fix the issue. If it's a hardware issue then it shouldn't matter about which ROM it is using, and they would probably flash it as a matter of course during the repair, so not a problem.
Ive Flashed my phone to the latest official 2.1 rom. Im pretty chuffed that navigation works . But theyve nerfed the live wallpapers, gonna wait a bit and see if i can get this working as its a feature i really want.
I followed this: http://androidforums.com/all-things...guide-root-install-custom-rom.html#post454657 It worked OK for me, I'm on Orange too.
i think it was because my base firmware was too high, ive rolled it back a few revisions and am about to try it again
Ahh yeah, I had the same problem. I had to roll back to the official orange ROM ending in .5. Worked OK after that, sorry forgot about that.
