    Hi BT

I've designed a custom HOTAS mount for the Thrustmaster Warthog, and I'm looking for someone to fabricate it out of metal.

I've made a really bad diagram of what it is I need done.

There are 5 parts total. One requires two 90 degree bends the other four are just flat rectangles.

There are also 14x 3mm holes that I'd like drilled.

3mm mild steel would be preferable if possible.

Is there anyone here that can do it? www.themetalstore.co.uk have quoted me £90.

    Thanks all

I hate watching dudes getting fleeced for one offs.

As you are in London, stop being lazy and join London Hackspace and make it yourself.

Have you tried Yell and finding a local bloke who can do it in his lunch hour for a Greggs Pastie and a tenner?

How I've always got my metal work done on projects

I am aware of it, but to be honest, I work 6 days a week at the moment, so my free time is at a premium.

No, but I will try that now!

I know them feels. I'm going to order a bending brake so was tempted to offer to help out, but I've got a long list of unkept promises already and I can't even get my own stuff done.

I've found a seller on eBay which will do a 500x400mm sheet of 3mm mild steal for £16.50 delivered. This is enough to cut out all the bits you require.

I'm no metal worker but shouldn't be too hard to pull off with a jigsaw and drill. Only bit which may cause problems is the bends as my bending break isn't very heavy duty so not sure how it would handle 3mm mild sheet.

I would check your local area of any fabricators, gate makers etc as I've always got small projects which require welding done this way and as its been mentioned above, with the right gear this is a quick job - the drill holes will take the most time as any serious metal shop would have a metal shear to cut the plates to size.

If you struggle to find someone local to help out I'm willing to give it a bash for you

I had them make a battery box from aluminium when I was volunteering as a race mechanic.

I'm not sure if they are still around. I can cycle down there Tuesday and find out. But I am forgetful so I will need prodding.

Yeah, going to work on a Saturday morning is awesome!

Thanks mate! I'll see what I can get done locally but if all else fails I'll come a-knocking!

Sweet! I've also emailed another metal fabber in North London. Will be interested to see how the price compares. Should be cheaper, if only because I'll be able to collect.

Popped by there today. The fabricating guy is out and will be back Monday. I'll pop by there again if you haven't found anything.

Why mild steel? 3mm aluminium will be pretty damn strong, I would suggest steel would be overkill in terms of strength.

Let me know if you're stuck and I'll see what I can do for you
