Tbh I find nothing wrong with AOC, my dad has one of there monitor's not bad, but not great, if your spending that kind of money on a monitor, I'd recommend one of LG's IPS panel's if you can find it http://www.scan.co.uk/products/23-l...ull-hd-dvi-vga-1920x1080-8ms-250cd-m-50000001

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/23-d...splayport-1920x1080-10001-300cd-m2-4-port-usb

or http://www.scan.co.uk/products/23-a...monitor-1920x1080-6ms-250cd-m-500000001-black obviously not 27" but same resolution and all very good monitor's

It was a toss up between a 24 or a 27, knowing me if i had chosen the 24 I would have only regretted it and wanted the bigger one after a while. The spec seems good, I suppose it comes down to build quality but for that price Iam willing to accept it wont be great but you never know it might surprise me

I've got a 24" from them, 16:10, and I really like it, yeah it probably isn't as good as a DELL or whatever, buy far cheaper, and it's awesome for everything I do on it (gaming, general browsing etc)

Thats not really good press, that's press release. While engadget might be good for phone reviews they don't know much about monitors. AOC monitors are generally a pretty poor. 1920x1080 will look pretty bad stretched out over 27". Personally, I'd avoid.

I got a 23" ips and while it looks great, I think I would have prefered a bigger screen size than the picture quality, as you soon get used to the picture quality, and a bigger screen is always useful :)

only 1920x1080 at 27"? That's a very low pixel density. You might want to get a smaller screen in 1920x1200, maybe a 24". It's going to look rather blurry compared to a 21" 1920x1080, that 27".

I've got a 24 inch AOC LCD monitor, max resolution 1920 x 1080. For me it's a great monitor (but I had been using an old CRT monitor until I bought it last year). There are no dead pixels, and even though the refresh rate is only 60 Hz, the picture quality is as clear as I could hope for, far clearer than I expected after buying the cheapest 24 inch monitor I could find :)

tbh who has ever looked at a 50 inch 1080p TV and thought how stretched it is compared to a 32 inch 1080p? I know monitors and TV's are different but its the same principle. Scan also stock a 55inch 1080p monitor, I very much doubt that will look stretched or blurry, otherwise why sell them and why would people pay £1900 for one? Viewing distance also plays a part, its all relative.

Exactly, new you don't sit 9 inches from a 55" TV. Monitor pixel density is so important because you are so close.

would it really be bad enough on a 27 for me to wish I had got the 24? or would it be hardly noticeable? My friend has just got a 27 and hes happy with it and to me it looks fine. Iam going from a 32 inch 720 LCD TV so Iam thinking its going to be a radical improvement anyway.

If you don't a great monitor at the moment then it will be the same, but if you get the 24", then everything else will look worse :)

so are you saying that a 27 1080p PC monitor will look the same as a 32 720p LCD TV? I find that hard to believe, Im convinced there will be a massive improvement over the TV regardless on which size monitor I choose, especially when viewing it from such a close distance. I have read a couple of reviews on the AOC 27 and its had quite a good write up, nothing is said about it being too big for 1080p.

There will be nothing wrong with going for a 27" 1080p monitor, yes you will probably see a noticable difference in picture quality all round, I think the chap above you was talking about if you went for a proper 24" monitor with 1920 x 1200 resolution, or what is known as a true PC 16:10 aspect ratio.

24" monitors like this Dell monitor http://www.scan.co.uk/products/24-dell-u2412m-ips-widescreen-led-monitor-dvi-d-hdcp-dp-anti-glare

or the more expensive, but better version http://www.scan.co.uk/products/24-d...l-dvi-displayport-hdmi-1920x1200-400cd-m2-6ms

In the end its your Decision, if you want a larger monitor but with only a 1920 x 1080 picture and obviously can't afford the jump to a proper 27" with 2560 x 1440 resolution then by all means get one, but I would suggest getting one of these instead of the AOC monitor

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-a...i-dvi-displayport-vga-1920x1080-300-cd-m2-2ms

or if you'd rather have a nice IPS display then get one of these http://www.scan.co.uk/products/23-a...monitor-1920x1080-6ms-250cd-m-500000001-black

edit: Also where is Goodbytes when you need him?

Ok thanks for the input guys, Iam going into scan today to have a look at a few, just to get a feel for the sizes, if I think a 24 is plenty big enough then I will consider one of the IPS, thanks again

Agreed, I'd buy that Asus over that AOC any day of the week.
