    Funny thing huppens,

My aol program stoped working, unistalled it, downloaded again 9.0, tried to Install it but I get a full screen of foto below, & canot close it unless I use CTL ALT DEL, & the "restart" small window comes up to repeat all over again.

AOL say it is a PC problem & cannot help.

PC has 2 Mem sticks 2GB each (shee second foro), & my HD has:-
    C:/ 13GB free space

and the other 4 partitions have from 1.3GB to 23GB.

    Anybody had same problem?

Probably not, since no one in their right mind uses AOL software. That **** sucked back in the 90's so I can only imagine what it's like now.

    Sorry about that,

I had the best deal available their "AOL TALK" for Unlimited Fone calls, fone Line & fast B.Band at £21.49 a month for many years now, & found the free 24hr help tel calls quite helpful.

I use IE, & only use the AOL program to check various things with in it, ie my account& billing.

Can anybody give technical advise on what is the problem.

PS: can not understand this, why do I do it? :-"....what about page file have you tried manually setting your page file rather than system managed ? ....."

    on XP

right click "my computer" and go to properties.

    click advanced tab

click on the performance settings button

    click advanced tab

    change.. virtual memory

set custom size of what your system recommends for you.

is this what it was or what you changed it to ?

if you havent alterted anything then not really sure since you clearly are not sort of either PF or RAM yet AOL says you are !!!

Maybe try installing it to your partition with the largest amount of free space?

Otherwise I would suggest calling thier free 24 hour helpdesk. I'm not sure many here use AOL, and as such would not be famillier with their software.

In that case, if installing to your partition with the most free space does not work, then how about creating a vm with virtualbox to see if you can install it that way?

Have you considered just giving up on the AOL software? it's not like you need it to get any thing done, if any thing I would have though it to be a burden as it's more software you don't need.

have you considered defragging the hard drive, as the free space may be in chunks that are too small for those progs to work effectively. (its Win XP after all)

also try running an antimalware scan.

I always do that, but the vidal "itemised calls" I am charged for can only be checked through the full program.

I have done all the suscribers here sugested, 4-5 times with no success.

I even removed, cleaned & replace the Mem sticks.
