Apple has joined the Blu-Ray camp - so Mr Jobs and the Cupertino Crew will be fighting with the forces of Good in the Next Gen DVD War... ;)

    This from ExtremeTech:

Apple Computer Inc. said Thursday that it has joined the Blu-Ray Disc Association, throwing its weight behind one of the two competing next-generation DVD standards.

Apple will join Dell Inc., Hewlett-Packard Corp., Royal Philips Electronics and others on the association's board of directors, designed to promote the 25-Gbyte single-layer and 50-Gbyte Blu-Ray discs. Blu-Ray competes with the HD-DVD standard, led by Toshiba.

Apple officials were not immediately available for comment, including whether or not they intended to exclusively support Blu-Ray in upcoming versions of the Macintosh or other products.

    booo for 'blu ray'

    ...i really hate that name..

hd dvd looks better to me, minus the lower capacity that is. not to mention the superior name and logo, and movie backers, and cheaper cost, and support for video codecs, of the hd dvd... but i digress, im sure i'll be happy with either when they come. so meh..

If they could just spell "blue" right I'd be much happier to back them. Because "Blu-Ray" cant spell and is now being backed by a fruit company I fell we should all support HD-DVD. :)

In truth, I actually favor Blu-Ray too.
