I saw a mouse that looks just like the Apple mouse, but with two buttons and a scroll wheel, I forget who makes it. But I wonder how different Apple's will be?

lol!!! maybe in 7 years they will 'develop' a mouse wheel as well (it wouldnt be the first time they tried to reinvent the wheel :duh: )

why dont they "develop" something new instead?

never know, they might even go after the mx1000 etc and try and aim it at pc users as well.

Two buttons is so 1980's! They have to beat the mx1000 for it to be important to me. Can't believe this is even news, if apple had a clue and weren't so stubborn this would have been made years ago.

A 2 or 3 button mouse would be cool, but to be honest, i dont use the right button much on any of my macs, if anything the middle one gets used more, to open a link in a new tab

However, on the PC, i use the right button rather alot, mainly because the program writers insist on hiding commands in the right click menu

It would be cool, if apple continue what they started in macos in 10.3, the action button, and add a button to the mouse to open the menu

i'm guessing my last post was just deleted, so heres a more serious one.

The idea of using more than one button, is a key user interface concept.

look at the PDA, touch + hold.

the acorn, middle button for context, right for selection (think shift + left in windows)
Acorn been the genious of user interface (anti-aliasing on all text in 1991 on 16 colour systems as standard because their hardware was fast enough + well written).

This ment in every application you didn't need to learn how to select text in the strange manner us windows or mac users have to, its much better than learning a keyboard combo to new users, and lets pros do things far faster.

the apple website says the mouse has a mirror on the bottom so you can quickly check ur makeup.

and they had to market it under the name iPointer because most mac users are scared of mice.

That's exactly the reason it is news now...Apple has been known (and criticized) for their single-button mouse, and now they're finally giving in and adding a button. :D

the thing i hate with computers is each different periphial is stuck in a different era of fashion history.
the mouse is in the late 80's "excess" era where it was all about more features than you ever need...

and keyboards have gone all 1992 with their minimalistic 'less is more' styling..

pretty soon we will live in a world when the mouse has more buttons than a keyboard and then one day apple will have the bright 'idea' of letting us browse with the keyboard and thats the day im going to shoot myself.
