hmmm the best option wouldve been to sell/return it. for $2000 (or however much it was) you could build a most righteous pc (dude,) g5 looks nice and all but... it's a mac... which is a minority system compared to 'ibm compatible.' lack of games, applications etc. forget using an emulator buy the real thing for like a quarter of the cost.
It's a troll.. He probably got the case from some Mac repair shop and put the cheesiest MOBO in he could find just to create a stir.
i really dont know what you guys are going on about. like Fivelo said, its a mac. mayby for some a mac is a viable computer, but its not for myself and my uses. nor, i assume, was it for his uses. i wouldn't do what he did cuz i would have sold it and made a helluva a pc with the money. but i think this only goes to show the real reason he did this (which he mentioned): that he didn't want to hurt his parent's feelings. this way it looks like he's really enjoying his present. if i had as big a heart as this kid i probably would have done the same thing. the only thing i would have done differently is put the mac in a pc case when i was done and either keep it around to toy with it or sell it off.
I'd just sell it and buy two decent computers. And if his parrents got hurt because of it, let them be that way. Thanks for the gift, but I have no use for a MAC. What do I have against apple? Not so much apple because of the hardware, but the idea behind it. They can get the average consumer to the point where if it isn't apple, it doesn't work, and they won't use it. The stupid apple user would rather pay 2-5x more for something with the apple logo on it. They spawn fanatics, and make a great deal of money off of the entire thing. Add that to their stupidly false advertising (more ammo for the fanatics), and I would rather use a 486 with a 14.4k modem, thank you very much
are you kidding? he says he uses his computer for internet, DVD's and pissing off his friend hes a tard.
I suppose the parents are happier with him destroying the gift they got him than if he RMA'd it and bought that Dell he really wanted.
I suppose his idea was that they wouldn't know. and if they didn't know and saw him using it, they would then believe that they got a good present.
yeah thats true. but i still think he was trying to be nice. which is nice, all you seem to hear about lately is how kids hate their parents.
Read it again, I'm not really surprised about how many emails he said he got... lol, I'm not sure if it's all that true: http://www.overclockers.com/tips1133/
shure mac g5 is great for beginners but people need to grow up with pc costumization you have a whole lot more control with a pc
even if he put good parts in that it would still look crap compared to how it comes, maybe a window, some coloured fans etc, but not the g5 logo's!!! or n e of the hardware for that matter, dam him!!!!!! [edit] lets hope the guy who got the parts does something intresting, we've found someone mad enough to do this so this guy has the chance to do a pc with g5 insides...
Lol, he played a good joke on us all The site is under extremely heavy load, so I thought I would quote the important stuff here (if that's ok with everyone). His prediction about apple diehards was true, got to give him credit
Now, I may be paranoid, and overthinking the matter, but you ever think he did that just to make people stop e-mailing him and complaining about what he did? I know I would of done the same exact thing in his shoes
whats more likely, some guy gets a G5 shell, puts his PC in it then posts an article to take the piss, or someone is stupid enough to give away a G5 and put a pos in it
Macs do have help just like windows computers. It's not very hard to type in what you want to do and get help for it. Then learn it and go from there.
