News Apple iPad 2 launch 'set for March 2'

I'm in the "Meh" camp.

Sorry but I still don't know what a tablet PC is for. My netbook lets me do everything that I would (or even might) use it for and use real (read work) programs as well.

I need a far more versatile machine than a tablet before it becomes any use to me and I have no intention of splurging 500+ notes on what, for me, would effectively be a toy.

 

I'm going to get a iPad 2, nothing better that lounging around in bed watching TV or trolling Bit-Tech!

 

are Heinz releasing a new variety of beans?

The keynote will be at the very least, interesting, and even the sceptics and/or haters must admit that Apple are doing a good job at leading the industry forwards. The new lightning/thunder-bolt on their Macs is rumoured to be announced at same time, possibly MacOS Lion as well ... ? As someone said before, shame Jobs won't be doing it (I assume he isn't), love him or hate him, his face is synonymous with all the good stuff Apple has brought out in the last decade or so.

 

I'm guessing a real mish-mash, including crushed ipad, well composted steve jobs, tomato sauce, baked beans, with a dash of apple

 

The only feature that would me upgrade is removable storage - even if it's an SD card. Then the iPad will/could replace my laptop.

BTW I have recently discovered my HTC Desire can do a mobile wireless APN; mean I can use my WiFi (only) iPad anywhere. Which is nice.

 

tbh i would take the touchpad over any tablets right now, or in the near future.

Never going to happen. Not until Apple stop bashing Adobe, besides then they'd lose out on revenue for the App Store.

Not excited at all about this (I wasn't for the original iPad either)
But I expected a bit more than a dual core CPU, a bit more RAM and Facetime

As for "the year of the copycat" haven't all the tablets that were announced at least a month before the iPad 2 got dual core CPU's, more RAM, dual cameras etc...
