I'm just making sure, my macbook 13.3" 1.83ghz with dvd-rom shouldn't be able to read dual layer DVD's? Also is there any other programs that I can use for music which i can update my Ipod with on mac os x? Preferably one i dont have to wait about an hour for it to update my library (my music collection is >100gig) should i rename my external or move my music folder? something that can add music to its playlist as quickly as winamp on windows would be pretty awesome, I'm aware Mac's forefront on music is itunes, but there must be others out there who just don't like it?
You will have no trouble playing movies stored on dual-layer DVDs. My suggestion for your large music library would be to just turn on iTunes right before you go to sleep and let it do its stuff while you're sleeping. It's doing a lot of things including downloading album art and checking volume levels etc. You can do that even if you want to experiment with other music players. adding a single song or even a bunch of songs to an existing iTunes library goes really fast. It's only slow when you try to add a large (100GB+ in this case) library all at once. There are a few others, but I've been happy with iTunes. You might still be able to download the Mac version of winamp.
