Hmmm - I thought they'd fixed this already, in the lastest OS update. Apparently not. This from Wired:

In the shadow of the introduction of a hot new Wi-Fi appliance on Monday, Apple quietly fixed several major outstanding security vulnerabilities in Mac OS X.

Security Update 2004-06-07, released noiselessly on Monday morning, closes major gaps in the way OS X handles browser helper applications. The fix is the first acknowledgment from Apple of the vulnerabilities, although they have been discussed publicly since late May.

Hang on - I was right, they have had a go at fixing this already
