    From the Beeb:

Apple is launching a new version of its best-selling iPod digital music player, according to reports.
The new lower cost and longer life iPod should be officially unveiled later this week.

Apple's iPod is the most popular digital music player in the world, with more than 50% of the digital music player market.

US magazine Newsweek was the first to see and review the newest member of the iPod family.

The digital music player has helped to boost Apple profits, with 860,000 being sold in the past quarter.

    More, with pic here

Looks the same, only with an iPod mini style 'click wheel'. Not having used a mini, I don't know how well these works. It also sounds as if they've restructured the menu system. Hopefully the firmware aspects of the new pod will get rolled out to the 3G's at some point.

They look very similar to the current (third generation) iPods...no need to upgrade, but a nice bonus for future buyers.

The 20gb model is only $299 though, which is about £160! That's ermm...£100 cheaper than the current ones.

The 20Gb model dosnt included the dock the carry case or the headphone remote.

    Soooo.....

    4G Ipod - £219
    Carry Case - £29
    Ipod Dock - £29
    Remote - £29

    Total = £305.99

Now that looks more like the price of the old 3G Ipod ;)

Yep, the RRP is £219.99. Add on the dock and remote and case, as Kevo said, and we get £306

    I'd much rather spend £245 on a 20gb 3G from Expansys ...

    Wow - fickle, aren't you? ;)

To be honest, I got a dock with my 3g, I hardly ever use it, and the case isn't that great - you'd probably buy a 3rd party case in the future anyway. The only thing worth buying is the remote.

    So that'd be £250.
