Anyone tell whether this would be any improvement on what I already have on my Asus Direct CU 11 GTX 670? http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=254565
No! The DirectCU II is pretty much the perfect cooler. To put things in perspective I have GTX 670 SLI and my ASUS DirectCU II occupies the top slot where typically it would be 10 degrees+ the temperature of the bottom card. By putting the ASUS DirectCU II fans on 100% temperatures in game across both cards is equal! Also the sound from the DirectCU II isn't that loud at 100%. I would recommend sticking with the stock DirectCU II.
Conflicting views guys. The games I am playing at the moment are not really pushing the card.(Portal 2 User content, Rage,Far Cry 3) so I have not really noticed any particular fan noise. I have just got the whole rig down to an acceptable noise level by trying different case fans. My signature case comes with 2 x 120mm and 1 X 140mm and was noisy. Bought these and am very happy. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=3241478&postcount=2 Will see if there are any other views. Cheers.
Ive got the DCUII on my 6970 and have to agree its noisy. i have manually fitted it to a fan controller as even with a fan profile setup anything more than 20% fan it goes mad. Ive been hunting for a usable aftermarket cooler but keep hitting problems as ASUS decided not to use the reference card design!
Looks like it. Stock PCB http://www.ixbt.com/video3/images/ref/gtx670-scan-front.jpg ASUS PCB http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_670_Direct_Cu_II/images/front.jpg
Far Cry 3 would definitely push a GTX 670 I should think! It heats my GTX580 right up with just high details, at about 40-60 fps
