Is it me or are Aria Binning CPUs?

Check the two FX-8150's at the top of the page - two identical CPUs but £35 difference in the price! Notably though, they have different icons for each, and don't state the vCore. Its not very impressive to shove 1.5v through a 2500k and say it is guaranteed to clock to 4.8Ghz.

I'm not sure what to think about that.

I think it's fair game; overclockers have been doing it for ages with intel chips.

Aria and Overclockers are very much rivals, not just market competitors.

Edit; just looked at the overclockers site and they've taken them off.

Be hard pushed to bin a CPU that isnt in stock in the UK yet...

Go to the site and read the small print, I shall let you make up your mind on that one!

Yeah, they've got to say all that to cover their own arse. It does make for a good marketing tool tho; "you want these clocks for sure? Buy this hardware."

    Look again...

**We cannot guarantee the user will achieve this Overclock as it's down to the individual to know how to Overclock professionally & follow the guides step-by-step done by review sites on the web.

So that 4.8Ghz chip.. well.. its stock with extra cost with the above get out clause.

Yeah, i read that too, but i figured that was fair enough. Some of the customers at aria would buy this chip, whack it in a motherboard and expect it to run along at 4.8, just like that. without doing anything.

I find the term "Overclock professionally" odd though. Does that mean that only Tom Rawz (pro oc'er working at aria) will be able to clock the chip that high? Not just some enthusiast, or even an amature?

As every review I've read shows that the FX-8150 doesn't perform as well as the 2600K, both selling for similar prices, it seems like a moot point. If you want higher performance on a single core there are cheaper options, and if you want higher performance on multiple core, overclocked or not, then bulldozer is definitely not the way to go.
