    Hi all,

I was looking at maybe getting a shuttle (AMD) but have read that they're not that good for gaming and people had reported bugs (jerky graphics & kicks etc) when gaming on them.

If I got one I'd use a separate AGP card anyway....just wondering if anybody knows....

    Thanks

erm, there'll only be a problem if you use the onboard 3d

The onboard video for the nForce 2 chipset is equivalent to a GF4 MX. It would be fine for something like CS and Q3A, but not much more. I would definitely reccommend getting a seperate vid card and slap in there just to make sure you can play anything on it. The onboard sound rivals the Audigy 2, form what I've heard and read, so a sound card would not be needed.

Not wanting to pimp it too much (if this is unacceptable, pls remove this post mods) but I'm selling a shuttle in the UK for sale forum, it's not the nforce2 one but in reviews it matches the nforce2 one in performance.

Hmmm, I think I'm gonna get a shuttle at the end of the month (payday).

I'm not that keen on the SN41G2 with the nforce chipset. Well, I don't like the front of the case anyway! I think I'll get the SK41G. I've had a look around and can get one for around £200 inc vat.

With such a small case there won't be any room to keep buying more PC bits....maybe by spending some money I'll end up saving..in the long run...or something like that....

Yep shuttles are great for games, I have built one up with my brother for his main computer, the integrated heat pipe CPU cooler is a very good piece of technology keeping fan noise down is always good.

    Shuttle XPC SK41G:

    AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (Palomino)
    Shuttle FX41 Motherboard
    512 Megabytes RAM (266 DDR)
XFX Geforce 4 Ti 4200 128MB VIVO AGP (AGP 4x)
60 Gigabyte 7200 RPM Maxtor Hard Disk Drive (Ultra DMA/133)
    Pioneer 16X DVD-ROM Drive
SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Digital PCI Sound card
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 3)

It gets just under 10,000 3d2001 marks.

Cheers for the reply. My setup will (eventually) be very similar to your bro's.

Will have to keep the 1.4 Athlon and Radeon 9000 for a month or two after the initial purchase though!
