I was just wondering what everyone else though of the visibility of other players in the game? I myself am getting a little tired of it lately, as most of the time it seems the only reason you get killed is because you didn't see the other guy. Since they nerfed the NV, I find it rather annoying spotting people camped in bushes etc. I know most people thought it was overpowered, but do you think they nerfed it too much??
In all honesty, it doesn't bother me at all. I don't really have any trouble seeing enemies if they are on my screen, even if they are far away, and spotting helps with that even more (if you play on a fairly decent team anyway). The only time I die when I don't see people is when they sneak up behind me, or I don't check corners/alleyways etc. when moving around the map which, while annoying, is entirely my fault and nothing to do with the camo design. Tank drivers/gunners certainly seem to have no problem seeing me either, it seems like even if they only catch a split second glimpse of me running behind a building/cover then they're all over me like a bad rash. I think there are far more blatant issues in the game than this you should be getting worked up about.
Gotta keep your eyes peeled that's for sure. Note likely hiding places and scan them for movement or hit Q and see if you can strike lucky, otherwise use your peripheral vision when moving. Look to the sides of your gun when running in straight lines and scan the scenery.
Speaking of looking to the sides, i wonder if you increase your fov option, to the max, whether it will give you an advantage. Or could you only do that in bfbc2?
You can increase your FOV in BF3, but anything above 90 you'll be kicked by PB. IDK why but PB doesn't like high FOVs
Heh Gregg been wearing glasses since i was 19. My fov is set to 90 too i believe will check tomorrow when Im home. Oh and just to add my vision is impaired at distance not at 1 foot away from my screen.
No Greg, not all people have a problem seeing enemies. Just change you're own camo so they can't see you either.
That's a point, I set mine to 80 as I had previously played all iterations on that.. running 1920x1080, better to go with 90?
Mine's on 85, personally. Keep in mind the higher the FOV the more 'fish-eye' effect; it may not be immediately noticeable but heads get smaller over distance than they usually would (compared to say a FOV of 70). Plus side is you get better peripheral awareness.
I think it's great for two key reasons: 1 - it's realistic (if everyone on the battlefield stood out they'd get killed - American civil war anyone). 2 - it's encourages team work, if your team play solo and don't spot, you'll lose, if they spot it's not problem.
