That has the face buried in your mobile phone whilst walking along the road, on a bus or train in fact any and everywhere? And if so what are you doing on it? I might check my email sporadically is waiting on something but not much else unless I am in hospital or some such. So what are you doing?
Well this morning I was reading Bit-Tech on my phone whilst on the train. Also use it to read the BBC and other sites, instead of carrying around a newspaper (not very practical on crowded underground or bus.
I only use my phone for texting, calls (both rarely) and occasionally a game of JetPack joyride if I'm in a waiting room or something. Might use the internet to quickly check something if there is some free wifi about but that's probably once a week at best. Phones might be pretty powerful these days but for typing on they still suck.
I personally find them too small to do anything comfortably on if it involves the screen. But get on any bus at any time of the day and more people will be buried in their phones than not.
If I'm out walking the dog I use mine to pass the time sometimes - either reading an internet article or occasionally a Kindle book. I'm also pretty addicted to buying Nintendo games on ebay at the minute, so am often monitoring auctions etc. on the ebay app.
I'm usually either on Bit-Tech, LTT, OCN or reddit on my phone around and about. I only tend to walk with it out when there's nothing interesting to see, such as the daily walk to the tube station etc. I rarely take the bus as the tube is usually more reliable for me, naturally no connection for most of it though. So for those times I'll either be reading a book via an e-reader app or pdf or playing freecell (no idea why, just became hooked one day). It sure beats the awkward try-not-to-look-at-anybody-in-the-eyes-or-for-too-long game that's the usual situation on the London Underground.
I was in a supermarket last week looking at my phone and overheard someone (quietly) mutter "urgh, texting blah blah..." like they were annoyed I was "on" my phone. I was looking at my shopping list which was on my phone. Is that any different to looking at a shopping list on a piece of paper?
Also Hearthstone has just installed so I suspect I'll be playing that whilst waiting for my new tyres to be fitted to the car tonight!
I don't tend to use it walking along the road, unless on holiday or somewhere new then it will be maps or taking photos. On the train, which is extremely rare, then it would be surfing the internet or changing music tracks. I don't understand the constant need to text everyone though. Oh and this
Sounds like a practical use to me, I use the calculators sometimes when I'm grocery shopping in morrisons and I have a voucher where I need to spend a certain amount to get the money off to make sure I have reached the required amount.
that is annoying but lately i really hate going for a coffee or a drink with friends because it's always the same everyone staring at a f***ing screen all night and it's the whole bar or coffeehouse ... fortunately there is a little app called wifi kill ... Oh the smiles that it gives me lol I'm really considering getting one of those signal killers and just walking around with it lol
I try to make minimal use of my phone as anything but a phone (I know, very bizarre to be using a phone to talk to people) so it's not very often that I'm looking at the screen. I'll look at it to check it when I get an email notification, but usually only for a split second if it's not an email I'm particularly interested in or if it's something that I know can wait until I'm back home. Similarly, I'll sometimes look at my phone for a minute when I need to look something up before I speak to someone I'm about to meet up with. I do often have my phone at hand when I'm on the bus, but I mostly use it at that time as a voice recorder for ideas and thoughts that I want to keep for later... which equally gets people looking at me strangely. On the subject of people constantly looking at their phones, how much do you all hate it when you have family over and they're all constantly sitting in the lounge with their phones or tablets with zero social interaction? It seriously pisses me off when people come to visit and then don't actually socialise... to the point that I've had to get a bit strict in my house and make it a rule that apart from the television, no electrical device (apart from important things like life support obviously) is allowed to be in the lounge.
