Email them back the details, you may find the person has a similar email address to you and miss-typed it. Simple mistake.
No it's not. I had the exact same issue with ARIA years ago. Just stopped using them! No more problems.
i had this once...the guy was nice enough to pass on my own delivery details was oddly the LAST time i ever used them
Does that not break some sort of law? I'm glad I've never used them now, they could be emailing anyone anything.
I used to use them...not used them in ages, only time i will use them is when Scan are out of stock as i live local to both stores, it doesn't surprise me when scan win awards when you compare them to Aria,
Well the most data they give out is the guys name, not home address etc, so possibly not? However it obv may result in theft or calling aria and managing to obtain data through social engineering. (I work in a goverment call centre, they paranoid about this sort of thing)
I'm similar in that I use both as I live in Manchester but my preference would be Scan down to the service I've had when needing to return (bad and good at both but tipped in favour of Scan. I would in the interest of balance like to point out that my last build from Scan came with somebody else's guarantee and invoice included rather than my own. It happens.
Yep, as there's no sensitive data beyond his name it's considered OK. Working for a bank though we'd never dream of emailing a customer regardless. The DPA should be beaten into many employees in this country. Literally beaten into them! I want a big paddle with -DPA- on it for induction spanking sessions.
... I'm concerned what may go on behind closed doors in your home. Anyway; That's really sodding stupid. I'm one of the few people my age who really has to give a damn about the DPA (St. Andrews Healthcare IT department. Place is mental.) so seeing this is just a complete and epic fail. How are they doing this? Do they have a massive miss-aligned spreadsheet with contact details on or something? Or do they just play Russian Roulette with the email addresses?
haha, you're probabaly right to be concerned Serisously though, even working for a major bank I can walk through the building and pull managers left, right and centre for DPA breaches by their staff and you'd be dismayed to know how many of them aren't aware of what's being said and what levels of verification are carried out before saying it. Hello?! We're a bank! Fines and phishing scams mean nothing to you?
Indeed. It's the sorry state of the workplace. I can't remember just how many times I've had to reel off simple facts to people, like the DPA, just because they're completely unaware of it. Hell. Even the login screen reminds people to be careful with personal information. The IT department spends months of every year trying to make sure that all of the security is idiotproof so that people can't unintentionally let slip massive amounts of information about the patients. Let alone what people actually say, the digital end is bad enough.
