It is hard to grasp. The slowing down bit is tricky! :D

Yeah - the AI are pretty good. This weekend I am going to try and port my AI Mod over to Arma 3 which allows you to tweak the AI skills on the fly.

The Arma 2 version is here

Nice that's promising! I'm going to re-do my overclock today. It used to make a big difference in Arma2 so it's about time I did it for this game.

I'm so glad to finally have a game that pushes my PC. It's far from high end and yet most of the new games I get I can crank them because they just don't look that good these days. But this one looks great when it's cranked.

Lol, the physics are pretty amazing. I especially love how the vehicles are so realistic and I can easily roll it if I drive it too fast and swerve or whatever. But best of all, I love the sound of the weapons. It's the first time I've shot a gun in a game and it felt like shooting a real rifle.

Also, I overclocked the hell out of my cpu and I gained about 90fps. And that's not even an exaggeration. Previously I was running it at about 25fps at almost minimum settings, and now I'm running at about 50fps with almost everything cranked to full.

That much of a increase? I might need to apply a over clock to my new 3750k.....

Anyone got any good guide for overclocking these?

I have the same mobo and cannot get the 4.7GHz they managed, unstable and got far too warm, so im keeping mine at 4.2GHz just now until i can be arsed messing around.

Apparently throwing some smoke around and then getting a chopper to hover above the smoke creates an awesome affect!

Yeah really enormous. I highly recommend you do whatever you need to do to make it happen. I bought a posh heatsink and fan which was 60 quid or something :/ But it really pays off. And these modern chips are just so great at overclocking too. I'm at 4.8ghz at the moment! I'll probably settle it down to 4.6 though when the weather starts getting better.

I could ideally do with a new graphics card at some point too. I've been talking about it for a year or more but they are so expensive :p. I'll get one this year but I'm trying to leave it as late as possible. With a bit of luck the GTX 780 will come along and save me.

Yes i did. Seen improvements in the single player showcase stuff. Around 4 - 5 more than I was getting. Will just need to see what happens as they patch the alpha.

But not really on mulitplayer. Just alot of frame rate drops. Played some wasteland, which was pretty fun! Quite a small map tho lots of people in small towns fighting! On a 50 man server it dropped down to 20 fps at some points which is pretty grim.

Apparently the multiplayer servers have a weird ability to lock the players' frame rates, no matter what their hardware is. Not sure how and why that happens, but there are usually plenty of good servers to choose from anyway (in Arma2). No doubt Arma3 will be the same, eventually. I did a lot of co-op last night and it was really fun :) The missions are way better than in Arma2.

Hmmm, interesting, i started playing ARMA3 on release day with some clanmates just 5-6 of us on our own server, and it ran smooth as silk.

I did notice that SP the game runs smooth, but on MP some servers seem to make my FPS start to stutter.....i wonder if its some sort of way to reduce lag? :S

You get the full game with each one.
You cant get the "Alpha Lite" unless someone sends you an invite. (Lite means only the 4 single player missions, no MP/Mods/Mission Editor)
The basic one is the alpha/beta/full game and 3 invites - £19.99
The middle one, gets you, as above, but also ARMA Cold war assault or Operation Flashpoint - the first game. And some collectible crap if your into that.
The most expensive gets you Arma X also and any future DLC for Arma3.

Imo - Get the cheap one if you have arma2 etc already, get the mega expensive if you want the entire arma series.

The middle one is only for people who like to get the printed maps an tat they have for special editions.

Get the cheap one for sure. But be prepared for bad performance unless you lower some settings and/or overclock a lot.

But it's still worth mentioning... because judging by the endless posts on steam complaining about it, it's not something most people seem to be at all prepared for.

And really, Arma2 was not much different anyway, even long after release. Simulations tend to be very processor dependent so even a good CPU can struggle, if you only run it at stock speed.
