I imagine the contract that came with the PS3, although had the same monthly cost as the Wii, probably had less minutes/texts/longer term? If not the the PS3 would be the way forward - if only just to sell it and buy a Wii with the proceeds!

Yeah, the current top two LCDs are the Samsung F96 series and the Sony X3500/X3000 series. The Samsung just about pips the Sony to post on black levels (but the Sony is still leagues ahead of others) as it uses LED backlighting however this in itself causes problems as you get a 'halo effect' around them.

All in all, I can't stand the shiny finish of the Samsung, but more importantly the F86 is plagued with problems and lot of them are being returned. The are some reports of clouding/tearing with the Sony but the numbers are minimal.

Interestingly, AFAIK the panel in the Sony is actually manufactured by Samsung!

Cancel the contract you've got a 10 day cooling off period, then go get the ps3, but check the contract carefully.

I have a Wii major, bought it quite a while back. Bar a few games like Zelda, Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid theres nothing eles worth getting it for! But the same can be said for the other consoles.

The wii has a really good controller and interface - The nunchuk and pad are great and easy to learn except my only problem with the console is its limited power. Theres only so many kiddy games you can play before you get bored =/

Theres no really "whoa amazing" games. I have the xbox Elite too and it too has its own limited problems (apart from Gears of Wars theres no real other games i like, Halo3 is "ok" but pc online gaming is better and you really have to follow the story well to understand whats going on fully)

    The ps3...well...same problems again?

Stiff competition is not good but hey, im getting a ps3 in a few months and then il have all 3 and im in a win-win situation for which ever has the best games :D Even my pc once i get the 8800GTS :D

I might just stuff the contract all together if they let me cancel it tbh. ;)

You seem far too easily swayed. It does beg the question as to whether you're just going for the one you can afford/obtain the soonest? Don't get a Wii if there's no games you genuinely want, don't get a PS3 just because it's Sony. Look into what you're doing and wait till you're certain you want one or the other, or an alternative.

Aren't Samsung the largest manufacturer of LCD/Plasma panels in the world, only second to Phillips in Europe?

I know all Dell panels were Samsung, just rebranded.

Back on topic, grab a PS3 just for the blu-ray as there are no good games for it as Sony market it as a multimedia center first, games console second.

Just to resolve the oft miss-quoted fact- Sony and Samsung both use the same glass panels. That's the only similarity. The driver boards, chips etc are pretty much all different.

Just thought I'd update as I was a little wrong

The PS3 contract is £5 higher with the same phone, so it's an extra £90 more. Now it might seem that your saving £30 or whatever when you go with the PS3, but if I stick with the Wii contract, by the time I buy a PS3 when MGS4 is released or somewhere around that time, I'm sure it would of dropped in price a little or better offers would be around.

Can't say the same thing with the Wii, can't see the Wii price changing for quite a while.

I'll stick with the Wii to be honest. ;)

Well done. Glad you got that sorted.

btw, it's either would've or would have, not £%^$^"! 'would of'.
