AS Exams On Thursday = FAIL!

I've got my first AS exam on thursday for maths which is worth 50% of my final grade. I'm going to fail this exam soo badly!

The modal score for last years exam's was 0%, which gives me a little confidence.

Right now I'm not revising, I'm learning. Anyone understand completing the square, diferentiation, factor theorum, intergration, and all probability?

Whacha need to know?

Completing the square is just algebra, no sweat

ya got t^2 + b*t
ya want (t + n)^2
so let n = (b/2)^2 but you haveta add it to both sides of yer eqn:

t^2 + b*t = 0
t^2 + b*t + (b/2)^2 = (b/2)^2
(t + b)^2 = (b/2)^2 = n (n is a number doncha know)
square root of both sides gives ya
t + b = +/- n
t = b +/- n your two solutions, no sweat at all.

This time with numbers:
let b = 6
t^2 + 6t = 0
n = (b/2)^2 = (6/2)^2 = 9
t^2 + 6t + 9 = 9
(t + 3)^2 = 9
t + 3 = +/- 3
t = 3 + 3, 3 - 3 = 6, 0

which are yer roots

the rest is a bit steeper, I'll leave that to someone else...

I'm going to drop Maths and just get an AS. It's to hard for me. I will do a full A2 in DT, Physics and ICT though.

i got an *ahem* P3 retake on thursday... gotta get it right this time, the one from June was a complete b*stard and i get the pleasure of taking P6 in june
ALTHO on my syllabus P5 will be the killer loads of hard calculus

i expect your doing P1 howesey which should be easy enuff to get an A in

i did a mock GCSE maths paper today, was kinda hard!

missed literally half of year 10+11, turned up and got an A* - no probs

Oh sorrums. I was too. It really wasn't that challenging. Apart from question 1 and the ones on wierd stuff I've forgotten how to do...ok so that's most of the paper then...

 

Naturally gifted eh ..... I find maths far easier than English, which I luckily gave up at GCSE ...maths is all rules and then following them and using them.. childs play ... eh ... lets just see what I get in the summer

p.s. for all the peeps who know a little bit about databases or computers etc. which i expect is pretty much 100% of the people here, it was NOT the average kind of use a database stuff trus'
