Is it only me that thinks AS-levels are exactly the same as GCSEs? They're a bit harder, but that's why you spend a lot more of your time on each subject.
Some of them are more different from GCSE than others. Maths and Sciences (I can only speak for physics from experience) are a big step IMHO, especially maths. Other subjects are easier, but certainly different from GCSEs.
Yeah, I did maths for a couple of weeks before I dropped it. I think it's harder, but no different in principle to GCSE maths.
I totally disagree with you there. At GCSE, you were expected to answer short questions: "Solve this simultaneous equation", "calculate the area of this shape". At AS/A, questions are more complex, especting you to use several concepts and methods to reach the desired answer: "Locate the turning points on the line "bleh" and determine their nature".
I still don't think there's really much difference from GCSE to AS. I understand your points and all, just my opinion.
All my teachers say the leap from GCSE to AS is huge in comparison to AS to A2 which is gonna be pretty much the same i guess. I could scrape a B in maths if i actually start doing any revision for stats and mech. my pure exam went pretty apart from the impoding universe of my mind that decided that -6/6 = -6 and then trying to prove the exam paper wrong because it got its lines wrong I already got my B in computing, the exams are such a piece of piss but the coursework is a right pile of ****e! Dunno what i will get for English, a C if i'm lucky lol
Hmm, perhaps there is a huge leap and I just didn't notice It's probably just because I really couldn't care less about college, it's just a lot easier than finding and doing a job. Man, can't wait til I retire, that'll be the best day of my life I reckon.
im hoping for an A in physics, Im GETTING an A in computing, looking for a B/C in Maths (but an A/B after i retake stats ) and an A/B in electronics however! i havent done much revisiong 0o
After todays exam, Maths will be a U (resit time ), Biology went well so I am hoping for an A, Physics I think a B would be possible if the questions are suited to what I know best, Chemistry (tomorrow) I think I can get an B again if the questions suit me. I know it shouldn't be the case that 'you do well if the questions suit you' but given an hour per module, I can't see they can test everything in full detail, so it just depends on what they do go into detail with and therefore is worth a lot of marks, and what they only touch on in the paper). I need 2 A's and a B though for A2 to do medicine, so I need at least 2 A's and a B at AS....might be a bit of a job first time around.
