Greasemonkey scripts are becoming huge now, they're everywhere and do everything!

 

vlc can also output in ascii

preferences>video>output modules, choose "color ascii art" (and remember to apply advanced options in the bottom right corner)

Ah yeah, not long ago me and some school buddies found some pretty neat programs that converts normal JPG/GIF pictures to ASCII art. Some of them better than others ofc. but we managed to get some fun out of those ;D
