Now i've set up my network and its all working fine apart from that if i want to view the shared files on My computer it aks for a username and password. Yet it doesnt the other way round. Both pc's are set up pretty much the same SP2 etc... and i've tried toying with the settings yet it still asks for this username and password. Any idea's how 2 get rid of it?? Cheers :thumb: .

If a user name of the same name and password as you are logged in as is on the pc you are accessing then it wont ask for a password (or shouldnt). Try adding an account to the other PC.

Yeah but this is only to access the shared files dolder on another pc on the network. It works fine the other way round (as in it dosnt ask for a password) but from the other end it does  .

I think it has something to do with making your folder private, and the username password should be the username and password of the pc you are trying to access.

Don't make the folder private if that doesn't work, set up the entire network again, it may help to use the network setup wizard because it will ensure that the settings are the same on both computers, you can change anything else manually afterwards.

disable your guest account and make sure "make this folder private" is unticked.
