Hey all trying to install the raid driver for my motherboard. Two problems windows is already installed and the raid driver supplied by asrock is packaged to be installed along with operating system. Anyway to manually install driver without re installing os First time doing anything with raid drivers and first ssd. Trying to setup a ssd in cache mode cheers

intel smart response (which i assume is the SSD caching thing that you're thinking of) is part of the irst drivers/software...

    This gives complete instructions...

(though, if you're in ahci mode you should be able to just switch it to raid/if you're in ide mode you'd need to follow the instructions here - i can see no reason at all for intel stating that it needs a clean install afterwards)

...& the latest WHQL version of irst is 11.5.2.1001.

ok got the cache setup but now I need raid drivers to install windows on the data partition. Downloaded the driver from asrock but it says no signed drivers were found in windows setup. I just used the drivers off the disc when I re installed windows in raid mode to get the cache setup. Were re the drivers on the windows 8 disc?

What??? You said in the original post that you were trying "to manually install driver without re installing os"

Which meant that you had the OS installed already...

...&, in this latest post, you've said you've set the cache up which, following the instructions from intel, you can only do with the OS installed...

Okay, that you're not using any punctuation may not be helping things, but if this isn't what you're meaning then what the devil are you trying to do???

Well, as i installed the rtm myself on one of my machines last week, you don't need any special drivers to install Win8 on an intel controller...

...it just uses the default msahci ones, & then you manually install the irst ones afterwards - following the instructions in the link for enabling caching.

Found a guide here http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2172381 so that is what I am doing :)

Ok long story: Tried to enable cache but with windows installed in achi mode if I switched to raid mode in bios windows would not boot.
So... I switched to raid mode and did a clean temporary install of windows on a mechanical drive installed the srt intel driver and setup the cache..
That's part one of the guide taken care of (read link above I posted.)
I now need to wipe windows off the mechanical drive and reinstall it on the leftover data partition on the ssd. But to do that I need the raid driver so my windows installation can see the hdd. Make sense?

EDIT: Just for further clarification when I did the temporary windows install I did not use the load drivers option in windows 8 installation I just installed it so I guess it is using the generic Microsoft raid drivers so what are they called or where do I download them? I need them so when I boot off the windows installation disc the installation see's all the hdd's.

From where you are atm/the way you're trying to do it...

...as there doesn't seem to be a Win8 version on the intel site, i'd try the appropriate version from here...

...updating the drivers to the 11.5.2.1001 ones linked to after you've got Windows installed.
