Rant Ass-iscitem, a take on internet communication

The search function on some forums is incredibly hard to use. Even searching Bit, reading the letters off the captcha image takes a few attempts.

 

me too. i use youtube theatre to prevent the youtube comments from filling me with rage.

 

I've seen threads closed before because they didn't want anyone to wast their time answering someone's question. isn't that what a forum is for? and if you dont want to answer a question because you have already answered it, just dont bother posting anything.

 

That's something that bugs me. If all the information is out there and you just need to search for it, why bother having a forum? You'll notice when a regular forum member has a question, they get answers, so basically I think it's just more in group / out group BS.

There is also a social aspect to it. It's fun to help someone solve a problem, especially when it's something interesting or complex. It seems strange to me that people would rather put someone down rather than prove their own competency by, you know, actually answering the question.

I don't have much use for people who make themselves feel good by hurting other, even if it's only in an online forum.

"If you've got nothing nice to say, don't bother saying it at all"... nice little phrase that should be adopted by everyone. I genuinely don't understand why people feel the need to waste their time and everyone else's by writing rude and unhelpful comments.
That aspect of forums/MMOs/Internet in general really grinds my gears
