Nice review. I thoroughly enjoyed the original so I am looking forward to giving this one a shot. I like the idea or upgradable skills and land, one of the reasons I enjoyed Overlord so much as well, the ability to personalize your surroundings.

No comments on how elaborate the story is? Solving the Glyph puzzles to reveal "the truth"

I would also give this game an 8 though, the only real point to improve on is the fight mechanics. I'm fine with the free-running as is, you don't want everything to be difficult like the tombs, the game would be to long and intensive.

Glad to hear that Ubisoft took the original's criticisms into account. It'd be a shame if it was just the original repackaged into a different setting. It seems, though, that they've gone a little too far and added too much variety. Perhaps iteration 3 will be perfect?

Still, AC2 is on my Christmas wishlist.

A few little typos though: my mother never scalded me (page 2), but she did scold me (rather too often, I seem to remember); also, it's de facto, not de factor (page 3).

Also change the gaming banner pic up the top, having it as a xbox360 controller isn't appropriate for a this site, especially when you should be supporting PC gaming :p

ah, i am relieved this game is actually something good. i was highly anticipating this title, and i was really scared it would turn out bad.
dual hidden blades and a hand cannon, good thing they had huge garments in the time:)

You can use a 360 controller on a PC. It's just a generic gaming image.

I'm still stuck on AC1; on the assassination through the harbour, jumping using the mooring poles trying to avoid falling into the water, only to fall in the water. Gah, it's annoying.

I found that mission quite easy. Just free run, it will automatically lock onto the closest grab point and just launch you towards it. That's 1 thing about the game they could do better, you should have to initiate a jump, rather then just running towards a ledge and let the game do the rest.

I think I'll invest in a 360 controller to play this cos AC1 controls on the PC were a fricking mare, I gave up very quickly!!

    Not for me...
These games are as suggested in this review, far too simple and easy. What happened to having to learn a game as you play, and not just continue to use one of the original skills and tactics from the very begining all the way through? The AI in AC1 is atrocious considering the guards can be right behind you and you jump in a basket and the suddenly give up... its just plain ridiculous and only for those who don't want to do anything that requires thought and skill.

I had zero issues with the PC controls. It uses the Shift, Space, WASDEF keys and 2 mouse buttons. Was that too complicated for you? Haven't played any advanced flight simulators in the past I take it?

Looking forward to Assassin's Creed 2 coming to the PC!

Sounds like they may have fixed the issue
