My thoughts exactly. I was really hoping for something more varied like the hitman series but each assassination pretty much turned out the same and there was never really a reason to be super stealthy when you can kill more people in a minute than solid snake can in a 3 hour video.

I very much liked the art direction and the story of the games, but found the missions incredibly boring and repetitive. That's not to say these games are isolated in that respect, but for me personally it just didn't quite justify its apparent praise across the markets...

Why don't they use the amazing art, architecture, climbing etc... to have a complex simple (yes: complex simple) mission based game where set pieces allow for creative approaches, a la Hitman series and Thief. Tower defense games? puh-lease. That's what my mobile phone is for.

Brotherhood has the best addition to the whole AssCreed series: assassin guild, and you can call them to help.

im glad to see Revelation still has it.

to everyone complaining how they cannot do things stealthily. you are not using all your resources. call in assassins or hire people to take out your targets. you can also craft bombs to help. very rarely do you have to engage in open combat when you've got assassins, bombs and people to hire to do dirty work for you.

i guess it's a difficulty curve thing. doing things stealthily (aka Hitman/Thief way) takes a lot of planning and preparation. easy way out is to engage in combat and smash buttons. Assassin's Creed (especially Brotherhood and Revelations, not so much in earlier series) gives the choice of two approaches, if you find yourself always get discovered and engage in open combat, then you are really playing the game on super easy (for brainless console kids) mode.

I guess I'm the only one who wishes they would just END the effing series and stop milking it? It's the same thing every time, a few different weapons, but the same stuff on the whole. Remember how everyone moaned with bioshock 2 being more of the same of bioshock 1? Can't see how people just seem to glaze over the fact that the guys are just milking this cow till it's bone dry and leaving the player with a funny taste in their mouth (sour milk?) that yep, you DON'T get to have an ending to the game that doesnt' make you think you were conned into buying yet another ass creed game. Not saying the games are bad, I enjoyed 2 and 3, but come on, come up with something new or stop making the same game with a different skin?

I know what you mean but I disagree. The key challenges of AC3 and AC2 are identical to those in AC1. You've got to walk around some places, follow some people, climb some things, then kill someone.

All they ever improved was the fighting, the graphics, and the add-ons (AC2 saw more side challenges, AC3 even more).

What I was asking myself in AC3 was, is it worth it? I can complete the game in a couple of days, and when I look back, I never did one single assassins tomb, never used assassin recruits, never bothered buying things, I just followed the exclamation marks and the white markers almost without thinking.

At the end of the day (spoilers) none of these "distractions" have even the slightest bit of meaning with regards to the ending cut-scenes. That's what annoyed me.

There are literally hundreds of games where you can mindlessly trawl through the main missions and ignore everything else. It's what you make of a game that makes it good. Take a look at the GTA series. If you just rush through the main storyline it's pretty repetitive and predictable. Yet if you switch between the story, some side missions, improving weapons and houses, doing some general carnage, etc, then you'll have a much better gaming experience, from a series that has won endless awards and many monies.

You should be blaming yourself that you just rush through a game without making the most of it.

MW3 is more multiplayer, AC never was and at least the single player in Revelations is different and gripping enough to keep you occupied for many hours. Personally that wasnt the same for me on MW3 as i really couldnt be bothered to grind for the same weapons and perks that I got two years ago with MW2.
